Clutter-Busting Challenge: 7 more things I got rid of

cleaning out clutter

I’ve come to the realization that it’s going to take me WAY longer than a month to declutter our home. But I like that this challenge is encouraging me to do a little each day.

Here’s what I decluttered on Friday:

clearing out the clutter

  • 2 of my old shirts
  • 1 pair of Elisabeth’s pants that’ll get used as a rag because they have pen marks on them that won’t come off
  • 1 baby body suit
  • 3 pens

Are you planning on doing any decluttering over the holiday weekend? I’m taking a break. :)

Braces Then, Invisalign Now

Sponsored by Invisalign – a clear alternative to braces

First, if you’ve seen any of my videos, you can clearly tell that I’ve never worn braces.

I was close to getting braces when I was 18 years old, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it didn’t happen. I literally had the appointment scheduled to have them put on my teeth but ended up not going through with the appointment.

Now that I’m older, I would still love to have straight teeth, but I don’t want braces.

Instead, I’m interested in a more sophisticated option known as Invisalign – a clear alternative to wire braces. I’m actually interested in Invisalign for my kids, too. When the time comes to think about straighter teeth for them, I think Invisalign Teen, which is available for teens and pre-teens, is going to be the answer. The only thing that teens and pre-teens need in order to get started with Invisalign is all of their adult teeth.

Recent Meeting
A few weeks ago, I had the chance to sit in on a talk with a lot of other moms to learn more about the benefits of getting straighter teeth with Invisalign verses traditional braces.

The benefits of going through the process of getting your teeth straight with Invisalign definitely seems to outweigh the benefits of getting them straight with wires and brackets.

Out with the old, in with the New
Invisalign is the newer, more comfortable way to align teeth. Just look at all the benefits over traditional braces.

differences between invisalign and braces

Other benefits of Invisalign that I took note of during the talk:

  1. They aren’t food traps.
  2. They aren’t bulky and don’t irritate the tissue like wire braces sometimes do.
  3. Hygiene is relatively easy. It’s easier to clean and brush your teeth, too.
  4. Aligners are BPA-Free.
  5. The aligners fit intimately and snuggly over the teeth.
  6. There are less food restrictions.
  7. Convenience is key. There are less office visits to go to.
  8. Invisalign Teen has features specially designed with teens in mind.
  9. Invisalign may be covered by your dental insurance! :)
  10. Kids can play sports with Invisalign. They can actually put a mouth guard over the aligners.

Braces then, Invisalign now. I’m loving this newer, cleaner-looking way to straighten teeth.

Have you heard of or used Invisalign yourself? Is Invisalign something you might consider for your teens or pre-teens?

P.S. Take a smile assessment to see if Invisalign is right for you or someone in your family. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter for their latest updates.

Clutter-Busting Challenge: Baby Clothes

cleaning out clutter

Today, I woke up to five sick kids. Fevers, runny noses, and all-around fussiness abounded. It wasn’t pleasant, but, by God’s grace, I made it through the day without feeling crazy and overwhelmed. I know it’s because others were praying for me, and I am so,so grateful for them.

I waited until just before the kids went to bed to think about decluttering, and I honestly wasn’t sure what I was going to shuffle through today. After a look around my bedroom, I decided to tackle Elisabeth’s clothes.

Here are the 7 pieces I decided to add to our donation bag:

I’ve mentioned in the past that it can be hard for me to let go of baby clothes. For the most part, I can easily detach and donate them now. I still keep a few items of clothing that the kids have worn over and over as keepsakes.

Everything I set apart today was easy to say goodbye to. Okay, except for the Tangled pajamas. Those were a little difficult, but everything else…that was easy. ;)

Did you do any decluttering today?

Clutter-Busting Challenge: Purse edition

cleaning out clutter

I’ve been away from home the past two days and decided to take the clutter-busting challenge on the road with me.

Instead of decluttering my home, as I sat in the backseat of the car on our way to Wisconsin Dells, I decided to go through my brick purse. I confess that I only made a small dent in the contents of my purse, but it’s something.

Here’s what I cleaned out of my purse:

I removed old library cards, receipts, a Kohl’s coupon, a Caribou Coffee punch card, and papers I no longer needed.

I’m back home now since we only did an overnight stay at a Great Wolf Lodge. We had a great time, and I’m hoping to share some of our experience with you soon. I’ve never been to a Great Wolf Lodge before and haven’t been to Wisconsin Dells in over 10 years. There’s a million things to do there, and I can’t believe how many water parks there are!

Anyway, tomorrow I’ll get back to work on decluttering my home…just as soon as I’ve finished decluttering my inbox. ;)

Have you cleaned out your purse lately? Are you participating in the clutter-busting challenge?
