Last week, I spent a good amount of time working on a blog design that I can’t wait to share with you guys. It’s sophisticated and cute. I really love it. I also spent time working on learning how to make The Sensible Mom better. I have so many ideas written down and in my mind, but I think I’m going to start with a new blog design for The Sensible Mom. I still don’t know exactly what I want in terms of design for this blog, but I definitely have ideas swirling.
In terms of my goals, I put more intentional effort into completing them. I didn’t get everything done, but I made progress.
Here’s how I did with last week’s goals:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Continue working toward making family worship time a habit – Honestly, we didn’t have family worship even once last week, except for spending some time praying together. I’m going to keep this goal on the list.
2. Make banana ice cream with Breanna – We made our ice cream, and we all loved how it turned out. I used what I had on hand. Our ice cream ended up being frozen banans with some vanilla protein drink and almond milk mixed in to smooth it out.
Personal Goals:
3. Juice at least 4 days this week – I drank juice 3 days, so I didn’t quite make this goal.
4. Finish reading the ebook, Tell Your Time (affiliate link) by Amy Lynn Andrews – Done! I just finished reading this book last night, and I honestly don’t know why I waited so long. It was an easy read, and I finished the book more motivated and determined to spend my time more intentionally.
5. Walk on the treadmill at least 2 days this week – Done.
Home Management Goals:
6. Unpack 2 boxes from the garage – Done….only 20-30 more boxes to go! I haven’t counted, but it’s more than I thought we still had left in there. I have been throwing more things away as I unpack and wondering why we brought them in the first place.
7. Help the kids organize their room – Done.
Business Goals:
8. Attend 1 webinar – Done. I actually ended up attending 2 webinars.
9. Apply for a blog sponsorship – I started my email for this, but haven’t finished it yet.
10. Create a sponsorship page for The Sensible Mom – I didn’t get to this, either.
And here are my 10 goals for this week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Continue working toward making family worship time a habit
2. Make homemade baby wipes with Breanna (We have all the ingredients ready for this, and I can’t wait to share the outcome with you guys!)
Personal Goals:
3. Juice at least 2 days this week – The grocery budget is a bit tight this week, so we won’t be doing a lot of juicing. I have noticed that since we started eating way less meat and dairy, our grocery budget has gone up.
4. Start reading Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas (affiliate link).
5. Walk on the treadmill at least 2 days this week
Home Management Goals:
6. Unpack 3 boxes from the garage
7. Organize my desk area, which has become pretty cluttered.
Business Goals:
8. Start redesigning The Sensible Mom
9. Apply for a blog sponsorship
10. Create a sponsorship page for The Sensible Mom
What are your goals for the week?
Shelly says
Sandra what is blog sponsorship? I saw this on your goals but forgot to ask about it.
This week we are trying to get back to a more regular routine. My son is doing better and can walk on his own but he does need help o the stairs still. I am working on reading with my son this week. With all the seizures he had he has some memory problems. He doesn’t remember any letter sounds which he had memorized and other than the immediate family he doesn’t remember people’s names. This happened to my daughter too so at least we know what to expect. I a also hoping to get some blog posts ready along with getting back to regular Bible study each day.
I hope you have a great week.

Hi Shelly,
First, I’m glad to hear that your son is getting better. That’s wonderful, and I’m continuing to pray for your family.
A blog sponsorship is when you reach out (or wait for brands to come to you) in order to partner with them to sponsor you to attend events like blog conferences.
You offer the brand something in return for their sponsorship. For example, you may offer them 3 months of advertising on your blog and 2 blog posts in return for $100 in sponsorship towards a blog conference that you are attending.
This is new to me as I’ve never been sponsored for a conference before, but I’ve been learning more and more about it. 🙂
Shelly says
Thanks for all your prayers and the information on blog sponsoring.

You are welcome, Shelly! 🙂

Can’t wait to see your latest design! And I know what you mean about the grocery budget…it seems like produce is at the highest prices I’ve ever seen right now. I love to give my family fresh fruits and veggies every day, but they cost so much!
Sandra says
Hi Erin!
I’m think I’m going to get started on the new design on Thursday. 🙂
And I agree that produce is expensive. I was honestly a little surprised that the amount we spend on groceries went up as much as it did when we stopped buying meat and dairy like we were. It seems to be a significant increase for us, so I’m back to menu planning. I had gotten off of menu planning regularly, but I’m doing it again because not only does it save us money at the grocery store, but it makes dinner time more fun!

You mention that one of your personal goals for the week is to “juice”–what exactly are you referring to? Are you simply drinking juice, as in fruit juice, or is this a diet thing? If it’s a diet, are you still nursing while juicing? I am wondering because I am nursing my 4th child, but I need to find a way to lose this baby weight without losing energy through the day while the baby is still consuming many of the vitamins and nutrients that my body needs.
Sandra says
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for stopping by The Sensible Mom. When I say, “juice” it means we are going to be juicing fresh fruits and vegetables in our Breville Juicer. 🙂
We (usually my husband does this at the moment), peel a few pounds of carrots, apples, maybe some Kale, and whatever else, then put the produce into the juicer and get fresh juice that is packed with nutrients to drink.
As a nursing mom, I do NOT do a total juice fast/feast. I’ve done some research on the subject, and it is not recommended to do a total juice fast/feast if you are breastfeeding. Instead, I drink juice in addition to my morning oatmeal and/or a snack at night. I might also drink a juice during the day.
Juicing helps me to get in lots of nutrients while I’m breastfeeding, and a side bonus is that because of juicing and other healthy changes we’ve made to our diet, I’m able to lose weight and breastfeed. 🙂 I’ve been losing around 5 pounds a month, and I also do NOT count my calories. We basically juice and follow a mostly whole foods plant-based diet, which means for us, minimal animal products.
Instead, we have more vegetables, fruits, pastas (whole wheat is best), rice, beans, soups, etc…
Let me know if you have any more questions. 🙂

Swinging by after visiting the Bloggy Conference Facebook Board. Lots of great goals! I like how you grouped your goals by category, great idea.
Sandra says
Thanks, Sara! Grouping them by categories is an idea I got from Money Saving Mom. 🙂 She does a goal link up each week, which I love.

Hello BloggyCon friend here! Can not wait for the conference and to hopefully meet you!
Sandra says
Hi Heather! I would love to attend the conference, but I’m not 100% sure yet. I’ve loved the Twitter parties and love that the Bloggy Conference website has so much great information for us bloggers.

Oh I hope you get to come!
