Wow. Last week was an amazing week. So amazing and jam-packed because of the Savvy Blogging conference I attended that I was completely wiped-out on Sunday.
I didn’t even open my computer all day. Crazy, I know.
After we said goodbye to my sister at the airport on Sunday :-(, I came home and tried to be ‘normal’ but my body wouldn’t let me. I was so tired after the conference.
I think it was all the walking, standing with a baby, pushing her in the stroller, etc… that pushed my body over the edge. I was seriously exhausted and laying down every chance I could get.
In the afternoon, I was finally able to get in a nice long nap with Elisabeth and woke up feeling so much better. I finished the night out just hanging out with my family, and then got into bed before 9:30pm.
I was so inspired at the conference to start executing the things that I learned when I got home, and I know the only way that is going to happen (and allow me to stay sane) is if I start waking up before the kids.
It’s as simple as that.
I’m going to do it. I have to be in bed between 9:30pm – 10:00pm each night and wake up by 5:00am each morning. This is going to be a new goal for me this week.
Here’s how I did with last weekβs goals:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Create reading goals for the kids. The three oldest will be doing the BookIt! Program.
2. Read to the kidsPersonal Goals:
3. Buy a new dress β I havenβt worn a dress in over 10 years, so this should be an experience. Iβm hoping to find a dress that costs less than $25 and that fits me well. I know that may be asking for a lot.4. Read my bible everyday this week – Sadly, no, but I am confident that waking up before the kids will allow me to spend ample more time in God’s Word.
5. Exercise with the kids– Oh, yeah! My legs and arms got major workouts at the conference holding Elisabeth. Not that no one wanted to help carry her. So many wonderful ladies spoke to Elisabeth and wanted to hold her, but she wouldn’t have it. She is what is known as ‘attached.’ She won’t even let family members that she doesn’t see day in and day out carry her, which means Sarah couldn’t carry her, either. My husband was able to take her off my hands each day for a few hours, though, which helped SO much. πHome Management Goals:
6. Make more body scrub
7. Tidy up the house for my sisterβs visit this weekBusiness Goals:
8. Go over the upcoming blog conference schedule with Ruben and make a plan for how weβll work things β Ruben was able to keep Elisabeth with him in the evenings during the last conference, which freed me up to attend the evening functions, network and chat with my sister.
9. Attend a blog conference and network with other bloggers10. Continue working on a project in progress
Here are this weekβs goals:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Take at least 40 pictures of the kids this week
2. Go to the library and spend even more time reading to the kids
Personal Goals:
3. Juice at least 3 days this week – The food at the conference was so delicious. Wow. It was seriously good, and all the meals were included (along with all the coffee we could drink), and I ended up 2.5 lbs. heavier. I’m okay with that. π But I do want to get back to my normal eating habits and continue working on my weight loss goals.
But again, the food at the conference, fabulous! The coffee was supplied by International Delight, and we had like 12 choices of which type of cream to add to our coffee! Everyday. I don’t normally add sweet creamers to my coffee anymore, but I was at a blog conference, so I went for it. Mmmm….hazelnut.
4. Read my bible everyday this week
5. Wake up by 5:00am every morning
Home Management Goals:
6. Make more body scrub
7. Make a menu for what we’ll eat this week
Business Goals:
8. Start executing the things I learned at the conference
9. Blog about the conference
10. Continue working on a project in progress
What goals do you have for this week?Β
Emma - Penny Stocks Trading says
Hi Sandra,
Really nice goals for this week, I hope you will have enough time to do everything π In my case, this year I decided to write down every month my goals. Also every day I am writing the tasks and in the evening before going to sleep I look again to my task list and I feel better when I see that I did all my tasks π
All the best,
Emma

Way to go, Emma! I used to write down my tasks to complete the day before, too. I just got out of the habit of doing that, but it did help tremendously.
At the moment, I’m hoping that waking up before my children helps me to get more done in the morning and helps me to be a better mom during the day.

I felt completely wiped out and didn’t touch my computer all day, either! I kept falling asleep on the couch and even though I had a pile of laundry and cleaning to do… I didn’t do it. I surprised myself by being able to take a shower. I was in bed at 9:30 too! The time difference probably had a little bit to do with it too, for me.
I’m up and ready to start doing things today though. I just finished my Savvy Blogging member profile. It took me like 20 minutes to figure out how to resize my picture to “button” size haha. But I managed.

Lol, Sarah! π I can’t believe how tired (truly exhausted) I was on Sunday. I was even laying right on the floor, which I never do. Of course, then the kids wanted to pile on top of me, so that didn’t last too long.
I am feeling so much better today. π And I’ve started ‘executing’ the things I learned at the conference. Woot! Okay…so I’ve done like 3 or 4 things, but it’s progress.
I saw the title of your latest post, and I’m looking forward to reading it. π

This week I am continuing with my 31 days posts and trying to figure out some long term goals for my blog. I also started reading the Bible to the kids last week so we will continue with that this week. I want to get to a sewing project with my daughter and try a new recipe. I also need to get back into my daily exercise which fell by the wayside last week.
Sounds like you have a wonderful time at the blogging conference.
Sandra says
Hi Shelly! That’s fantastic that reading the Bible to the kids has been working out so well. π I think I’m going to be trying a new pumpkin recipe soon, since we brought home 4 cans of pumpkin from the grocery store today.
I did have a truly amazing time at the blog conference. It’s definitely a conference that I would love to return to year after year. Wow! Those Savvy Blogging ladies know how to put together a great conference. I hope we can meet there someday! It’ll be in Cincinnati next year.

Hey Sandra! Great goals. I llike the “take 40 pics of my kids”. I need to do that! I love that you narrowed it down to 40! Thanks.

Thanks, Erin! I had written take ‘lots’ of pictures at first, but then decided that I should put a number to it. π

I have to wake up before my kids, too. I’ve been waking up early and going to bed early for a while now and it’s still not at all easy for me. :/
I’ve gotten used to the productive early morning hours though. When I do choose to sleep in later, I always regret it.
Sandra says
Hi Gina! I definitely hear ya that it isn’t easy! π I’m on day two, and I didn’t get to bed until about 11:30pm last night because the baby didn’t want to fall asleep. When she did finally fall asleep, I tried to catch up on some emails, and got to the urgent ones before calling it a night. I was still able to get up before the kids this morning, but I did wake up later than I wanted to and got less done.
I hope you have a great week, Gina!

I’m so glad to hear that you had a good time at the conference! It sounds fabulous…and with all the big name bloggers there, I’m sure you had some good opportunities to network.
Looking forward to reading your posts about the conference π
Sandra says
Thanks, Erin! The conference was so much more than I expected. I’m going to start writing my Savvy Blogging conference posts next week! π
