In my latest goals post, I mentioned that our family is in the middle of a major life change. By reading the title of this post, you already know that the change has to do with us moving.
That’s right. We are moving again. We moved to Georgia 8 months ago and bought our very first home. And we love our home, but there’s a long list of other things we don’t love about living here. Ruben and I have been praying and talking about what to do.
Then one night, we decided to contact our wonderful real estate agent.
We decided that I’d send her an email to let her know we might be interested about putting our house on the market.
I thought she’d think we were crazy, but she didn’t. π I said she was wonderful, right? Anyway, she came over the next day, and we went over some things. She took pictures of our home, and it went on the market.
Then, by God’s grace, we had a buyer in just a few days. We literally went from an email to our real estate agent to having accepted an offer on our home in less than ONE WEEK! PRAISE GOD!
The closing is set for a date in January, and after it’s over, we are headed HOME! Back to Illinois, family, friends, our church, and the familiar.
We are thrilled!
We enjoyed our time in Georgia, but we are ready to go home.

wow! Does that mean you’re coming back here? We’ve missed you!
Sandra says
Hi Sarah! Yes, back to the area! We’ve already looked at houses to rent online, and it looks like we shouldn’t have a problem finding a home to rent quickly. I’m hoping this is the case, and I’m planning on lining up appointments with landlords before we leave Georgia.
We are praising the Lord for the quick offer on the house! Right off the bat, we had steady appointments with potential buyers coming to see the house. People starting walking through on Monday and by Wednesday, we had an offer that we wanted to accept. Everything seems to be moving in the right direction with the buyer and the closing, and we are thankful for that.

and ps WOW on selling a house that fast! Incredible!

Sandra, I am just so happy for you and your family. It is wonderful how God provided a buyer for your home and you will be able to be going back home. I hope you are able to get everything packed and ready to go without too much stress. I am praying you will be able to find just the right place for your family in Illinois too. This is a great Christmas present not only for your immediate family but I am sure for your friends and extended family also. Such a great answer to prayer.
Sandra says
Hi Shelly! Packing is underway! THANK YOU so much for your constant prayers for my family! So far packing is going pretty well. We’ve decided to purge some things and donate some things in an effort to fit the stuff that we actually want to keep and take back to IL with us.
When we moved to GA, we didn’t do the best job of purging unnecessary things before loading the truck, and we ended up having to give away (or put out on the curb for free to happy passersby) the stuff we would’ve actually wanted to keep. And we brought a lot of stuff we didn’t really want/need here to GA.
We are trying to avoid repeating the same scenario. π
Shelly says
I am glad the packing is going well. I think moving is such a great time to evaluate what is really important to keep and what isn’t. Since you have to lay your hands on every items to put it into a box. Good for you taking the time to do that with this move. I am sure you will be so thankful you did when you need to unpack at your new home. π
I know we have been in our current home for 14 years now almost 15 and things can sure build up over that amount of time. When it just sits on a shelf or in a closet it is easy to forget it is even there. π
I think one of my goals for this new year will be to go through each room in our home and decide what items I really need to keep and what can go.
Sandra says
That is a great goal, Shelly! I’ve been thinking about goals for next year, and I’m going to post on them when I can. I love reading peoples’ goals for the upcoming year. It’s so nice to think about a fresh new year ahead.
Patty says
Sandra, I’m so HAPPY that you’re coming home! I’m so happy you’re house sold so quickly –God thing for sure!–and I can’t wait to see you! Merry Christmas!
Sandra says
Thank you, Patty! Merry Christmas to your family, too! It was all the Lord’s doing for sure. This house belongs to Him, and I’m thankful for how quickly He has blessed the sale and the process.
