I’ve been thinking about setting goals for the new year, and I want to set goals differently this year than I’ve done in the past. I’m going to set two big goals for the different areas of my life, then work as hard as I can at accomplishing those goals throughout the year. I’m hoping that this will help me to focus more on my goals and make more progress than I did in 2012.
Here are my goals for 2013:
Spiritual Goals
Read through the Bible in a year
Pray diligently for my family and others
Personal Goals
Lose 40 lbs. by juicing, eating healthy, and exercising
Start waking up by 5:00am every morning. I’m going to start working at this goal in February when we should, Lord willing, be finished moving and living in a new place.
Marriage Goals
Read at least 3 books on marriage
Schedule at least oneΒ homeΒ date night each month
Family Goals
Have regular family devotions
Take lots of pictures
Homeschooling Goals
Concentrate and put forth a diligent effort in doing an excellent job of homeschooling our four older children
Read to the children often
Business & Blogging Goals
Grow our YouTube channels’ subscribers (both my channel and our family LEGO review channel)
Increase my blogging income by creating great content for my readers
Those are my goals for the new year. Have you set goals for 2013? I’d love to hear them!

Sandra, I like your goals for this upcoming year. This will be my first year of ever doing yearly goals. So I am still working on setting mine up.
One of my goals will be to go through every room in our home to declutter them. We have lived in this house almost 15 years so there are items that have been in our closets for a while that we probably don’t really need.
I want to also re-start making our own soap again. I made up my own recipes years ago for regular soap and shampoo bars but when I started couponing I was getting soap for free so I stopped making my own soap. I also want to try to make liquid soap base too.
I may also join you in your goal yo lose weight. I need to lose about 40 pounds also. As you can see I have been thinking about my goals for this next year. π I am hopeful I will get my 2013 goals up by the end of the month.

Hi Shelly! I think doing yearly goals is a great idea. I’ve learned, though, that I also need to keep them in front of me in some way or else I’ll forget them! For 2012, I printed them out and had them in my office.
For 2013, I’ll do the same, but I’m also going to put a link to them on my blog somewhere for easy access. I might put a graphic in my sidebar just so that I can click on them easily and read them over and over.
I love your goal to declutter! That’s a great idea! Even with all the times we’ve moved…losing count now…9 times, maybe?…we still struggle with clutter. I think that cutting way back on shopping and even coupon clipping has helped, because I’m not tempted to run out and get games/toys/stuff just because it’s a great deal with a coupon.
I love your goals to make more homemade products, too! What do you use the liquid soap base, for? Is that a recipe for dish soap?
Let’s encourage each other in our weight loss goals. π I haven’t lost much weight since my last update, but I’m looking forward to getting back on track in January. I’m looking forward to reading your goals!

The liquid soap base is to make liquid hand soap or I am sure it could be used as a dish soap too. You just dilute it down to the thickness of the store bought stuff. I have seen a few recipes on You Tube and since I already know how to make my own soap it is just a little different with a little different chemicals. It is something I have always wanted to try so maybe this year.
That would be great to encourage each other in the weight loss, heaven knows I need all the help I can get in the weight loss area. π

These sounds like great goals Sandra! Some of my goals for the new year are similar, like losing weight and making family Bible time a regular habit around our house.
I finished reading through the Bible in a year on Tuesday (my first time ever). It was a big accomplishment and I’m so happy I did it, because I’ve learned so much going through each book and connecting the dots.
Good luck on your goals for 2013 π

Thanks, Erin! And congratulations on reading the Bible in a year! That’s fantastic! I agree that reading the entire Bible gives you a greater understanding of God’s word and connects the dots!
I haven’t been losing much weight since my last update on the blog, but I’m not freaking out about it. I’m remembering that it’s the holidays, and the time of year when it’s harder for me to lose weight. I’m looking forward to fresh new weight loss focus for the new year! I love that we can encourage each other in our weight loss efforts. π

I can help out with the kids for your date night:)

Thanks, Mama! π It’ll be nice to have the opportunity to have someone take care of the kids for a few hours for us again.
