The last few weeks have been interesting. We managed to pack up most of our home, go on a family vacation to Disney World, then come back to rent a moving truck and close on our house with the new buyer.
After the closing, we finished packing (it seemed like we’d never finish), and drove away from the house that was our home for the past eight months. We arrived back in Illinois on Sunday, January 13, and here we are.
We are extremely happy to be back home in Illinois. I couldn’t stop smiling as we drove on familiar streets and past familiar places on the way to my mom’s house, where we’ve been staying as we search for a new home to rent.
I’ll be honest and say that I do miss the house that was our home in Georgia. It was a great house, and I miss it. But I’m thrilled to be living back in Illinois, and the Lord has provided a great rental home for our family. We get to move in at the end of this week.
Anyway, I’ll post more on the adventure of the last few weeks very soon, but in the meantime, here are my goals for this week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Read to the children
2. Pray with each child daily
Personal Goals:
3. Keep up with an online Bible study
4. Read 10 pages of the book, Desperate
5. Pray about homeschooling (now that we are moving into the realm of having four children that’ll be doing school at home…I need some additional prayer and help)
Home Management Goals:
6. Unpack as many boxes as possible over the weekend in our new home (we should get the keys on Friday)
7. Clean areas that need it in our new home
Business Goals:
8. Work on client project
9. Write 3 blog posts
10. Work on answering emails quickly
What are your goals for this week?

You have had a few very busy weeks. I hope your move into our new rental home goes well and you and your family get settled in. I will be praying for you about your homeschooling I thought having my kids so far apart would make homeschooling easier but I have found it to be challenging having one in high school and one in first grade. But each day we get what needs to be accomplished, well at least most days. π
I hope you have a great week.

Hi Shelly! Thank you! We just got the keys today, but it’ll be a few more days before we’ll actually spend our first night there. My husband spent a lot of time there today, cleaning. I wish I could be more help in that area, but because we always have to keep our two youngest kids with us…he can get more done without me and the kids around.
We get the moving truck on Saturday, and most of our stuff will be moved to the house from storage tomorrow. π
Thank you for your prayers, Shelly! I’m so thankful that we can support, encourage, and pray each other regularly.

I’m so glad that everything fell into place and that you’re back home π
I recently read the book Desperate and I really loved it! Now if I can just get up the courage to find a mentor….
Sandra says
Thank you, Erin! The Lord definitely worked out everything! I am really enjoying reading Desperate, and it grabbed me in the first few pages. I have a mentor, who graciously took me under her wing about 10 years ago, and it has been wonderful. She is a godly woman, and she’s one of my biggest encouragers. I treasure our relationship.
My tip to finding a mentor is to be willing and open to being mentored yourself. π Then allow the relationship to grow.
