However, all opinions expressed are my own.
The holidays are just about over for most of us.
There is, however, one more special day recognized by Latino families around the world. It’s called Three Kings Day, and it’s celebrated on January 6th. On Three Kings Day, we’ll remember when the three wise men made a special visit to behold and give gifts to the child, Jesus, after His birth. Some people even think of Three Kings Day as the last ‘official’ day of the Christmas season.
Um, extend the Christmas season? Yes, please! π
To give you a simple idea of what this holiday is about for one real latino family in particular, watch this movie where a young girl named Camila shares how her family celebrates this day every year.
How to Celebrate Three Kings Day
People celebrate this holiday pretty much the same way they celebrate other holidays — with family, friends, special food, activities, and fun! Just as with other holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, families have traditions they keep year after year to celebrate Three Kings Day.
DID YOU KNOW? JCPenney wants to raise awareness about real holidays celebrated by real families? They’ve created several videos to do just that. You can head on over to their YouTube channelΒ and watchΒ them there.
Shopping at JCPenney
While we couldn’t shop specifically for Three Kings Day (we’re pretty much knee deep in snow and hanging out at the Ronald McDonald House as my four-year-old son, David, recovers from a bone marrow transplant), my husband did do some clothes shopping for our kids not too long ago.
He went to JCPenney and found the most adorable sweaters for Elisabeth. And she’s received several compliments on her pretty little sweaters, because, well, they fit her so well. And they look so cute on her.
I love that JCPenney has clothes for everyone in the family that are great to wear to any holiday celebration, especially a Three Kings Day celebration.
Do you celebrate Three Kings Day? Do you have any favorite after-Christmas traditions?

I’ve never even heard of Three Kings Day….but if it’s a celebration I’m most definitely in!!! π

I also haven’t hear of the Three Kings Day. I like that you share your heritage, Latino, so that we have an opportunity to learn more of what others traditions are.

I didn’t know that Three Kings Day was such a big holiday! In my church, we call it Epiphany and don’t really do anything special for it.
Actually, my pastor told us in her sermon on Sunday that they don’t know for sure exactly how many wise men came to visit…scripture only mentions 3 gifts, not the number of gift givers. I never realized that before!
