Oh, you guys. The last week has been interesting and frustrating.
To cut right to the chase, last Wednesday night my kitchen faucet literally fell apart. No big surprises, I guess. That’s what can happen when your faucet springs a leak and the company hired by your landlord to replace it actually installs the cheapest plastic faucet they can find at the hardware store. ๐
That’s right. Since July, our family of seven has been enjoying the use of a plastic kitchen faucet. Honestly, I didn’t really mind, because we’re renters and figured we didn’t really have a say in what kind of faucet was installed to replace the one that was leaking. After waiting a whole week for the faucet problem to be resolved back in July, when it was finally dealt with, I was just happy to have full use of our kitchen sink again.
And, you know, truthfully, this most recent faucet misadventure wouldn’t have been such a big deal, if I hadn’t then started to get the runaround from the parties involved. Today, the faucet still hasn’t been repaired or replaced, but I’m hoping that it’s going to happen FOR REAL in the near future.
After repeating my story for about the twentieth time over the phone today, I found out that the serviceman that installed the cheap plastic sink back in July should never have done so. He should have installed a comparable sink to the one that he was replacing.
To make a long story short, I’m supposed to be getting a call tomorrow morning to find out when a new serviceman from a different company will be out to replace our broken faucet. I’m not holding my breath, because we’ve been told multiple times over the past week that someone’s going to be out to fix the problem.
And no one’s been to my houseย so far.
There’s a whole lot more I could say about this situation, but I should probably stop now. ๐
As for tackling my goals last week, in the midst of the shenanigans above, I did okay.

What are your goals for this week?

I hope you get the faucet fixed soon. It must be really hard to be patient when you seem to be getting the run around. Maybe tomorrow will be your lucky day!
You did really great on your goals this past week. The past week I’ve been having a hard time getting up early. Our son has been coming in to snuggle in the middle of the night. Which wouldn’t be bad at all except my son is such an active sleeper, that I don’t get as much rest. Which makes it so hard to get up early. I hope you have a good week this week.

I hope you have a great week, too, Shelly! And I’m very happy to say that our sink was fixed today! Woohoo! It’s a joy to have a new working faucet. ๐
And there are still lots of times when the kids join us in bed making it hard to sleep. I tell myself that this time won’t last forever, but…I woke up with a very sore neck last Sunday, which was probably from sleeping wrong. lol

I bet you do have a pile of dishes. That would be daunting to me! Good thing you had a bag and not bowl from popping popcorn!
I hate getting up early. I really struggle with getting up at all this morning. It isn’t 9:00 tonight and I am ready for bed! Headed there soon! Hope you can hit your 7:00 goal!
Sandra says
Thank you, Lydia!
And guess what? The broken faucet was replaced today!!!! ๐ And the new sink is NOT plastic, which makes me very happy.
As for getting up early, give yourself lots of grace and get rest when you can. With a new baby or even an “older” baby for that matter, it was always hard to get into a good morning routine for quite awhile.

Oh Sandra, we always have such bad luck with hiring people to do jobs at our house too. It seems like nobody can ever do a job right the first time, and it’s really hard to deal with when you can’t use your appliances or things like that. I hope your sink gets fixed very soon!
Sandra says
Hi Erin! I feel the same way. Too often, we’ve had people out who do a “quick fix” or a poor job, and we end up having to deal with the same situation all over again.
Thankfully, the serviceman that showed up yesterday was one who finally did a great job! ๐
