First things first: I have a new kitchen faucet.
And it’s not plastic! π
I was so thankful last Wednesday when a serviceman showed up (for real this time) to replace the kitchen faucet. I was able to wash all of the pots and pans that had accumulated, and well, I’m just happy that this latest repair is behind us.
Other than that, last week was pretty uneventful, and I was able to cross off most of the goals on my list.
Here’s what I accomplished:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1.
Continue to work on memorizing two verses of scripture as a family2.Β
Sign up for an online cooking class with Breanna— We’re signed up for Taste of Home’s “Comfort Food Classics” online cooking class. These classes are brand new, and if you use the coupon code TAKETEN, you can get $10 off your first class. Breanna and I are ready to learn and excited to be making homemade macaroni and cheese tomorrow! It’ll be my first-time ever making this dish from scratch. πPersonal Goals:
3.
Do resistance band exercises 3x4.
Walk a total of 75 minutes on the treadmill5.
Read 20 pages of The Hobbit (affiliate link) by J.R.R. Tolkein6. Get up by 7:00am every morning — Again, I failed miserably here. Over the weekend, I seriously thought about just giving up for now, but then I woke up early this morning and reaped some of the early morning benefits I so desperately need as a mom. So, I’m going to continue working on getting up before my kids. If I keep trying, it’s bound to become a habit someday, right?
Home Management Goals:
7.
Wash all the pots and pans that have piled up while the kitchen sink has been out of commission8.Β
De-clutter the area around my deskBusiness Goals:
9. Create a DIY video — I didn’t get this goal, but I’m planning on creating a video this week to show you how to make your own brown sugar bath scrub.
10.Β
Return emails

Erin @ My Mommy World says
I’ve been wanting to read the Lord of the Rings ever since I heard Sarah Clarkson (Sally’s daughter) talk about what an epic story it is. My husband has a copy of the book, but at over 1,000 pages, it is a little daunting!
Hope you have a great week! (And congratulations on your new faucet :))
Sandra says
Thank you, Erin!
And, you know, my daughter is reading through the Lord of the Rings books, but my husband is actually listening to them on CD on the way to and from work. So if reading the books seems like a lot (because it is π ), maybe you could try listening to them on CD.
I’m planning on starting on the Lord of the Rings trilogy after I finish reading The Hobbit.

How have you lived without homemade mac and cheese?!! My mom makes some of the best mac and cheese. There is nothing like it. You will never go back!
We have now made brown paper bag popcorn twice. Second time turned out better. My husband likes how there isn’t oil in it.
Hope you have another productive week this week!
Sandra says
Thank you, Lydia!
As for the mac and cheese, it was a major flop today. π I replaced two ingredients with ones I thought we’d like more, and it just didn’t turn out well. I used regular cheddar cheese instead of white cheddar and almond milk instead of whole milk.
I think the almond milk was probably my downfall. It was a bummer, because we were looking forward to it! I’m sure it would have turned out a million times better had I used your mother’s recipe. π

So glad to hear you have a new faucet that isn’t plastic. π
I made macaroni and cheese from scratch last week and it was so good. Reading your post makes me want to make it again. π
I’m working on a tutorial video right now. I’m wanting to do more of them but I’m so very slow at editing. Maybe after doing a few I’ll get faster. Can’t wait to see your DIY video.
Sandra says
Thank you, Shelly!
My mac and cheese totally failed, but I’m going to try again…someday! π I’ll have to search your site for your recipe!
As for editing videos, it is tedious and time consuming. I try to get as much of a video recorded without many mess ups in order to avoid a lot of editing. And if there’s a little mess up with wording that ends up in the video, it’s no big deal. π
