I crossed everything off of my list of goals for last week.
The small way I’ve ‘found’ more time in my days is to be disciplined about when I hop on Facebook. I try only to check it once or twice early in day and then again after the kids go to bed.
Honestly, by checking it less often, I’ve found that I don’t miss much. I think, instead, I end up heading down fewer rabbit trails during the day, which means I have more time for my to-do list. π
Here’s what I accomplished last week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1.
Continue to work on memorizing two verses of scripture as a family2.Β
Plan a fun family dayPersonal Goals:
3.
Do resistance band exercises 4x4.
Walk a total of 140 minutes on the treadmill5.
Finish readingΒ The Most Important Place on EarthΒ (affiliate link) by Robert Wolgemuth — I’m excited to be finishing up this book, but I do think I’ll read it over again in the future. My favorite takeaway from last week’s reading: Treat your words with care.Β6.
Journal 2xHome Management Goals:
7.Β
Spend 30 minutes cleaning/organizing the basement — This has become a fun activity to do with the kids over the weekend.8.Β
Sew items in our home that need itBusiness Goals:
9.Β
Create custom thumbnails for two YouTube videos & update the description box of two videos10.Β
Spend 1 hour on my blog redesign

What are your goals for this week?
Sharla says
Ugh, I’ve been terrible about wasting time on Facebook and whatnot lately, good work improving that. It’s amazing how many of my small tasks I could actually just do in the three minutes I spend on Facebook procrastinating.
Sandra says
Hi Sharla! Try not to be too discouraged about your Facebook time. Instead, try to intentionally set up a way to keep Facebook in your life but not at the cost of other more important things. For example, I tell myself, I can check Facebook only AFTER I’ve read at least one chapter in my Bible and then again after the kids have gone to bed.
For a long time, I felt like I was justified in checking Facebook multiple times a day because I’d read a blog post about how moms shouldn’t feel guilty about checking their phones. So I felt justified, because I’m a mom and a blogger who doesn’t get tons of time to sit down at the computer, etc…
Well…THAT was silly thinking. I know that now, and I feel so much better about the way my days flow now that I’m not regularly checking FB.
Thanks for stopping by, Sharla! π
Sharla says
Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve spent many random hours nursing since last spring, which got me into the habit of checking facebook regularly. Now that I’m not nursing my baby as much, I seem to still be in the habit of checking facebook (and some other favorite sites) way too often. It’s one of those things that just realizing the last few weeks and being aware of the problem has really helped a lot.
Sandra says
I can relate to your story so much, Sharla. I found myself making it a habit of being on social media and other sites more than usual when I had my last child and I was nursing her. It was just the easy and distracting thing to do. And while I’m still nursing her (as a toddler because she’s not ready to stop just yet), I’ve found that being intentional about when I get on social media is the key – that and prayer. π
Shelly says
I know I used to spend more time on FB but I spend less time now. I try to do a little two times a day at the most. Now my husband loves FB and spends more time on there than I do.
You did a great job on your goals this past week. I like that you have scrub and clean the kitchen sink. That is one job that I often forget about myself, so it made me smile to see it on your list and reminded me so I cleaned my sink too. π I hope you have a great week.
Sandra says
Hi Shelly! I’m so glad my list was a reminder to clean your kitchen sink. π I know that I don’t clean ours often enough, but if I put it on my to-do list, it would get done.
Erin @ My Mommy World says
Great job on your goals last week Sandra!
I think you are right about Facebook being such a time suck…it throws me off everyday! The worst part is that when I’m working on my computer, it’s so easy to just open a new tab and read for a while instead of doing the writing that I should be doing.
Hope you have a great week π
Sandra says
I agree, Erin! I like the new feature in WordPress where the screen goes into another mode and removes all distractions. I think it helps me to stay more focused when I’m writing a post.
I hope you have a great week, too! π
