I crossed everything off of my list of goals for last week. Yay!
I think developing a system for having my kids help out more with chores around the house is making a big difference in how much time I have to focus on other areas. π
Here’s what I accomplished last week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1.
Continue to work on memorizing two verses of scripture as a family2.Β
Create a list of chores and how much they’re “worth” in terms of game time — For example, right now I have my 14-year-old son unload the dishwasher, rinse the dishes again (we have hard water and to make a long story short…the dishes usually need to be rinsed again once they’ve gone through the dishwasher), dry them with a towel, and put them away. Then he reloads the dishwasher with the dirty dishes that are in the sink. For tackling this chore, he earns 40 minutes of game time. For something like emptying the recycling can, he earns 5 minutes.Personal Goals:
3.
Do resistance band exercises 4x4.
Walk a total of 200 minutes on the treadmill5.
Read 10 pages of The Lord of the Rings (Part One) The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien6.
Journal 2xHome Management Goals:
7.
De-clutter one corner of our home8.
Fill one bag with items to donateBusiness Goals:
9.
Edit, upload, & post a video on how to make a honey sugar facial scrub10.Β

Lydia @ Not Afraid of the Snow says
I just need to get Esther on board with doing chores! I know, don’t wish away the time. Glad you were able to get everything crossed off of your list!!
Sandra says
You’re so funny, Lydia! Soon enough… I’m sure she’ll be working on picking up her toys. π
Shelly says
Great job Sandra, on getting all your goals done. I think I need to set up a kids check list for chores around here.
My kids do some chores around the house. They are not set for each week but if I ask them to start the laundry or gather the trash around the house they will do it. I tried having them do the dusting in the living room but come time to do the spring cleaning, I realized just how much they had been missing. We are working on it. π
I need to find the things the kids can do well and have them take over doing those things. Hope your week goes well and you get all your goals done this week too.
Sandra says
Thank you, Shelly! And I’m planning on sharing the list and our system in an upcoming vlog. π I have to say that my oldest son, who is 14yrs. old and thrives on routine and structure, does great with the list. My 12yo. daughter Breanna has her regular chores and then works from the list when she wants extra game time.
Erin @ My Mommy World says
Good job on your goals! We are taking it pretty easy this week, as it is spring break here, but we did get the kids’ closets decluttered and organized, got a few dental appointments done, and finished a few errands.
Have a good week!
Sandra says
Thank you, Erin! It sounds like you’ve had a very productive week even with the kids at home. π I hope you and your family have a great weekend!
