I worked in collaboration with Olive Garden on this blog post and vlog.
I love being a blogger.
It’s the job I never knew I wanted until I started my very first blog in 2009. Since then, blogging has changed and will continue to change. But one thing is for sure: as long as I have a computer, a camera, and an internet connection, I’m going to keep on doing what I love. π
And the best part?
I get to work from home and be around my children. My two oldest kids, Nathan and Breanna, actually help me with small blogging tasks from time to time, and I pay them for their work. I do that for two reasons:
- They want to earn money.
- The internet isn’t going anywhere and learning different aspects of working online is important these days.
Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Now Take Your Kids to Work Day was last Thursday, April 23rd, and while I sort of ‘take my kids to work’ with me on a regular basis, we still observed this day together and ended it with a fun family meal at our local Olive Garden restaurant.
You can see what this day looked like here:
Did you take your kids to work with you on April 23rd?
Erin @ My Mommy World says
I didn’t take them to “work” on the 23rd, but we do get to go to an event at the end of May, which I’ll be covering on my blog, and they are super excited!
By the way, we love watching Forensic Files too! It does creep me out if I’m watching it at bedtime though π
Sandra says
I hope you guys have a great time at the event next month! π
We actually almost always watch all of our Forensic Files type shows at night, because we don’t want the kids to watch with us. It’s one way we relax before bedtime. Lol
Shelly says
Looks like a fun day with lots of things to do. We didn’t do anything special for the 23rd. But my kids do help with the blogging things we do.
We watch Dateline too. I’ll have to look into Forensic Files.
Sandra says
That’s great, Shelly! I have my daughter, Breanna, help with Pinterest and adding recipes to Chef this Up. My son, Nathan, has helped me when I take pictures, and then he’ll help upload them to my computer.
There are lots of old episodes of Forensic Files on YouTube. You should definitely check them out. π
Gina says
I didn’t take mine to work because they’re all school-age now but when they were little, I used to take them to work every once in a while.
I love the videos, Sandra!! You’re so brave! I don’t think I could do one? I’ve considered it but I’m not outgoing enough. LOL (I’m craving a salad now.)
Your daughter wants to be a writer!! A girl after my own heart. <3
Sandra says
Thank you for the encouragement on the videos, Gina! I appreciate it! π And you know, they’re getting easier to do as we go along. I don’t feel as nervous as I used to when I’m in front of the camera, but I still lose my train of thought a lot. LoL
You could totally vlog, Gina! All you need is a camera/camcorder OR your smartphone. π
And I’m very proud of my daughter. I can’t wait to read one of her stories someday!
Lydia says
Esther is pretty much attached to me all the time! A White Sox game with the family sounds like fun!! Looking forward to that vlog!
Sandra says
Thank you, Lydia! And the White Sox game was a lot of fun…even for Cubs fans. π
