I was able to cross all but one of my goals off my list last week.
I decided not to upload any family vlogs because, by Friday afternoon, I was spent as a mom and needed a break.
If you watch our vlogs, you know that my husband, Ruben, is in just about every video, and that’s because we film the vlogs on weekends or on days he’s requested off work for a particular reason. But on the days he works, which is obviously most days, he works outside of the house for much of the day, and then comes home and works some more — inputting information into work systems, calling customers, etc… He usually finishes up around the time the kids are heading to bed, but many days it’s later than that.
Anyway, while I can normallyย handle the kids and regular home life with his crazy work schedule, by the end of last week, my patience was gone. And all I wanted was to be alone for awhile.
I felt better by Sunday, but I’m glad Ruben only has to work four days this week. ๐

What are your goals for this week?

I’m sorry to hear that last week was a trying week. I hope this week goes better for you. We all need a break from our jobs but when you’re a mom it can be hard to get those breaks. I’m glad to hear by Sunday you were feeling better.
Today was one of those days for me. I woke up to our air conditioner broken at 2 in the morning. It was warm in the house so I knew something was wrong. Having the air working is something we need since our kids can properly cool themselves. Our friend came and found the problem in the morning and we had air going in just a few hours. Luckily it had cooled off overnight something that hadn’t happened in about 3 days. Then about mid day my son suddenly had stomach pain. After the trip to the doctor to make sure it wasn’t his appendix we were back home. It was quite the start to my husbands vacation time. ๐ I hope the rest of the week goes better.

Hi Shelly! I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been having a rough week! ๐ I’ll be praying.
Last week I was very close to having to take one of my boys to the emergency room (while I was home alone with all five kids), but thankfully, I didn’t! Isaac and David were playing outside when David threw a VERY HARD wand and it hit Isaac in the head. There was a wound, tears, blood, and momma feeling light-headed in the midst of all that because my body/brain has issues with blood.
It was crazy, but by God’s grace, the wound didn’t need stitches. We applied ice packs for a long time and cleaned the wound with peroxide and used neosporin. We also gave Isaac a special toy for his troubles, and that made him feel better. ๐
And, of course, I lectured over and over again about how we don’t throw things that haven’t been “pre-approved” to be thrown by me or my husband. LOL – BOYS!

Oh my that is a hard week. I’m glad you were able to make it through the blood part. I know I used to have such a hard time with seeing blood or having my blood taken. I don’t have too much trouble now unless it’s my own blood. I still have problems with an adrenaline rush that makes me almost pass out, even if I’m not feeling scared or anxious about it. It’s really frustrating.
I hope Isaac is healed up soon. Yes, boys can be a little crazy at times. ๐

I’m sorry you had a rough week! I’ve definitely been there too…in fact, although I was so happy to have my kids home from school for summer break, it’s been hard to deal with all the fighting, whining and messes when I’ve been used to having quiet days while they were in school. By Sunday, I was ready for a break too, and luckily, my husband kept the kids busy while I watched a grown-up movie all by myself. It was just enough to recharge my mom batteries.
I hope you have a better week!
Sandra says
Thanks, Erin! And I’m glad you were able to have some time alone to recharge your “mom batteries.” I love that phrase. ๐
This week has been better. My husband gets a 3-day weekend after tomorrow, and I enjoyed a fun visit from my mom, sister, and brother at my house today.

Thanks for your honesty about your struggles. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who struggles because others don’t talk about it. Glad that is not true! Hope this week has been going better.
Sandra says
Hi Lydia! You are definitely not alone in your struggles. Being a wife and mom is hard work for all of us. ๐
This week was definitely better, though. I hope you and your family have a great weekend!
