I hope you had a great weekend.
We spent lots of time together as a family and did a few fun activities together. It was all very memorable, and I don’t think our kids will ever forget “the year the neighbors set off fireworks in just about every direction.”
They set off tons of fireworks last year, too.
But this year?
I think they all went and got permits ( ๐ ), because we didn’t even have to leave the house to see a fantastic show!
As for my goals, I didn’t meet my treadmill and vlogging goals, and I’m actually going to cut back or cut those out for this week.
Here’s what I accomplished last week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1.
Continue to work on memorizing two verses of scripture as a family2.ย
Read to my children 5xPersonal Goals:
3.
Do resistance band exercises 4x4. Walk a total of 150 minutes on the treadmill — I spentย around 100 minutes on the treadmill, but we went outside and walked more as a family. I’m going to decrease this goal for now, because we’ll be spending more time outside.

We had a great fireworks show in our neighborhood too. The neighbors that live behind us came over and we set off fireworks together and visited. It was fun. Some of the people in our neighborhood travel across to the next state to get the huge fireworks, which aren’t sold in our state, so we had quite the show from our front deck with some going off right above us. it would have been perfect if it had been a little cooler. It was still 85 degrees when we went out to do our fireworks. It usually rains on the 4th around here so that was a big change from last year. I hope you have a great week and are able to accomplish all of your goals.

Thank you, Shelly! ๐
Fireworks are illegal in IL without a permit, but lots of people drive to our neighboring state of Indiana and stock up. Except for last night, we’ve literally seem or heard fireworks going off in our neighborhood almost every night. I guess they were getting ready for the big show they’d planned on the 4th. LOL

How fun that you got to see fireworks from your yard! We cannot use them here in Maryland, but growing up in California, we were able to purchase them and set the off in the street in front of the houses. It feels weird not to have fireworks at home.
I hope you have a wonderful week with your family and can enjoy your time outdoors!

Hi Erin! It’s great to be able to see the fireworks from home, but when we moved into this neighborhood, we never would’ve thought our neighbors would’ve been such fireworks enthusiasts. LOL Fireworks are illegal here in IL, and the kind that you purchase at the store (the “small” ones for kids) aren’t actually considered fireworks.
Lots of people in IL are getting their fireworks from Indiana and bringing them back. I suspect our neighbors are doing just that, but hopefully, they have permits because the shows they put on from their backyards…WOW! ๐
