Okay, I’m going to give up on my vlogging goal for right now.
I haven’t uploaded a vlog in at least a month, and I’m going to step back and rethink how I want to go about creating videos for my personal channel. It’s hard to find time to create videos during the week because homeschooling the kids and everyday life activities take up so much of my time.ย Then on the weekends, I don’t always feel like vlogging and instead want to just spent time together as a family.
I don’t know. I still love vlogging and creating those videos, but I need to think of a better wayย of going about it. ๐
Anyway, here’s what I accomplished last week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1.
Continue to work on memorizing two verses of scripture as a family2.ย
Plan a fun family dayPersonal Goals:
3.
Do resistance band exercises 4x4.
Walk a total of 120 minutes on the treadmill5.
Read 10 pages of The Lord of the Rings (Part One) The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien6.
Journal 2xHome Management Goals:
7.
Order more books in the “Who Was” series for Nathan and Breanna — My mom gave us a few of these books, and I decided to have Nathan and Breanna read them as part of their schoolwork. It turns out, they love the books, so I’m going to order more. So far, they’ve read about Christopher Columbus, Rosa Parks, and Helen Keller.— We ended up ordering books about Betsy Ross, Theodore Roosevelt, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Walt Disney. ๐8.ย

What are your goals for this week?
Shelly says
You did a great job on your goals last week. I know it’s hard to find time to do videos. I try to do one a month but sometimes I don’t get to them. I’m hoping to make one this weekend with the kids.
If you are looking for options for science books you might check Ambleside Online. org They have booklists for each year. There is a science section and some of the books are audio books which your kids might enjoy, and some of the books are free to download. We used it for my daughter up to year 10.

Thank you, Shelly, and thanks for letting me know about the Ambleside Online website. I will definitely check it out. ๐

Congrats on your productive week! You always inspire me!
I haven’t been posting my goals. :/
Have you considered using Periscope or Blab.im in place of the time-consuming vlogs?
Sandra says
Hi, Gina! I noticed that you haven’t been posting your goals, but I’m excited to see that you have a new post up. ๐
I’ve used Periscope twice in the past, and I love watching other people’s scopes. But with my kids at home with me, it’s hard to find time to create a scope without a bunch of wild interruptions. With vlogs, I can edit some of those out. LOL – With Periscope, people would get to see the craziness live, and I’m not ready to be that “real.” Maybe when my two youngest kids are a bit older I’ll try to Periscope more.
I’ve heard of Blab, but I need to look into it more and see how it’s different from Periscope. I know Amy Lynn Andrews created some Blabs (?? Is that what they’re called? lol), and I need to check those out. ๐

Great job with your goals! I do love your vlogs, but at the the same time, time with family will never be able to be replaced! Hope you have a great week!
Sandra says
Thanks, Lydia! I love vlogging, and I’m not planning on quitting for good, but I need to think about how I can simplify them a bit…maybe? I don’t know. I’m still obviously thinking things through. I know some vloggers like to share quick recipes where they don’t show their faces or most of their day, and I like watching those.
Some vloggers will also share their grocery showing trips and grocery hauls…I like those, too, but my husband does most of the grocery shopping, so that wouldn’t work for us. ๐
Erin @ My Mommy World says
Have you thought about doing Periscope? I feel like it’s so much easier than shooting a video…you just sit in front of your phone and talk…no editing or uploading required ๐ I miss seeing your vlogs and hearing about your days!
Hope you have a great weekend Sandra!
Sandra says
Hi Erin! I did do two scopes back when I first created a Periscope account, but they didn’t go super smoothly. The first one was especially crazy, because I was trying to show people how I diffuse essential oils, and one of my kids decided to be silly and say something like “Why are you killing me??” in the background. LOL ๐
So, yeah, I would like to try using Periscope more, but because my kids are home with me all the time, it’s challenging. I simply CAN NOT avoid crazy interruptions like that, but I’ll probably try again when my two youngest kids are a little older. I do love watching your scopes! ๐
