Well, I meant to update my goals more than I actually did last month. Hopefully, February will be better now that I have a couple of good blogging friends helping to keep me accountable for some of my online goals.
Anyway, I hope your year is going well so far. I’m personally looking forward to spring next month. I’m done with all of this snow…even if my kids aren’t. ๐
Here’s what I accomplished:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1.
Do Bible devotions with the kids 4x2.
Take the boys to swim class— They have 3 weeks left, and they’re doing a great job. I’m not sure they’ll actually be able to swim on their own by the last class, but our park district encourages kids to take the beginner’s class more than once, if needed. The instructor will make recommendations in the next two weeks and let us know if she thinks the boys should move on or retake this class.Personal Goals:
3.
Email a friend4.ย
Exercise with dumbbells 3x5.ย
Finish reading through 2 Corinthians in the New Testament and read the book of Esther in the Old Testament— I ended up reading through these books and then reading through most of the New Testament again. I’m back in Revelation and should finish by the end of this week. Then, as usual, I’ll go back and start in Matthew in the New Testament and begin to read through once more while I continue reading the Old Testament at a slower pace. I’m in Job right now in the OT.6.
Journal 2xHome Management Goals:

Help the kids with BookIt reading for January8.

Here are my goals for this week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Do Bible devotions with the kids 4x
2. Go shoe shopping with Isaac — He really needs a new pair of shoes, but this child hates to shop. LOL ๐ So that makes it hard to buy him shoes. Pants, shorts, and shirts, I can pick up without him but not shoes.
Personal Goals:
3. Download Disney photos onto my computer — They’re only available for so long before I can no longer access them, so I need to download them before they’re gone.
4.ย Exercise with dumbbells 3x
5.ย Finish reading through Revelation in the New Testament and the book of Job in the Old Testament
6. Journal 2x
Home Management Goals:
7. Help the kids with BookIt reading for February
8. Drop off clothes donations
Business Goals:
9. Edit & upload at least one new videoย toย our family YouTube channel
10. Shoot, edit, & upload at least one new video to my YouTube channel
What are your goals for this week?
Erin @ My Mommy World says
I can relate to taking your son shoe shopping…my son also hates shopping, so it’s a real pain to try to get him to come along. Hopefully your shoe shopping trip will go OK!
Sandra says
Thanks, Erin! Our boys sound a lot of like when it comes to shopping for them. I wish I could buy Isaac shoes without him, but there are too many little nuances with shoes that make a difference in how they feel so he has to come along and pick out ones that feel good to him. Sadly, he ended up coming down with some sickness this week so we may not make it to the store after all. He’s feeling terrible right now and sleeping a lot, so the shoe shopping may end up having to wait until next week.
I hope you and your family have a great weekend! ๐

I think it’s great that you share your goals here – and that you set such frequent ones. I have a hard time with goal-setting, so when I post my goals on my blog, they’re just a list of quarterlies. Still, with the goal of getting better at goal-setting in mind (lol), I tend to set goals I can break down from quarterly to at least monthly, and then I use a tracker app for daily stuff that helps me reach the end of the quarter successfully.
I promise it’s not as complicated at that makes it sound! But anyway – all that to say this: I love your blog and I love that you share what you’re up to in this way.
Sandra says
You’re so sweet! Thank you for your kind words, Brandi! Your system for goal-setting sounds good. As long as it works for you, that’s what’s important. ๐ In addition to setting goals here on my blog, I also use the Habit Streak Pro app to help with daily things I’d like to remember to accomplish (like Bible reading, praying on my knees, and reminding Elisabeth to brush her teeth). It’s been super helpful. I used to use this app quite a bit, and then stopped after I felt I didn’t “need” it anymore. I recently started using it again, though, and it’s been so helpful once again.
I’m off to visit your blog!! ๐

It’s amazing what a difference one little app can make, isn’t it? I’m always shocked at what little things slip past my notice when I’m not actively checking those little boxes off! (Mine is called Loop – Habit Tracker, but my 3rd grader loves a different one called Habitica. It gamifies task tracking with XP and stuff like that, and has literally changed our life.)
Also, thanks for visiting my blog! I’m considering comments from you to be a special kind of score – I’ve been reading here for a long time and I love seeing what you’ve been up to.
Sandra says
Hi Brandi! Thanks for sharing the names of the apps your family uses. I’ll have to check them out! And, yes, it’s the little things that are actually important things that can slip right past me when I miss checking my habit app.
I hope you have a great weekend! ๐

That is great that you are taking your boys to swim lessons. I want to take the girls one of these years, and then take them along with them! I can swim ok, but would not say that I am proficient. Definitely a skill that is good to know.
Sandra says
Hi, Lydia! I did swim classes WITH some of my kids when they were very little and while it was somewhat helpful, they didn’t learn to swim. I think it really just helped to get them more used to being in the water.
I recommend waiting until they’re a bit older unless they show interest early. Isaac and David are 10 & 8 years old. Elisabeth thinks she wants to take swim classes next time, but with her little spunky personality, I think it would be wise to wait until she’s at least 7. LOL – I can see her not liking something the teacher is telling her to do and then wanting to get out of the pool. It just depends on the child, I suppose. ๐
