Thanks to Zenni Optical for partnering with me on this blog post.
It’s been about a month since I’ve shared a goals post and I want to get back to it.
The reason I stopped sharing was partly that I’ve been focused on getting our family to a better place with our food choices and eating habits. We’ve decided as a family to move back to a whole food plant-based diet for the most part.
So we’ve been watching a lot of videos on nutrition and I’ve been checking out lots of books from the library to get ideas for foods my family can enjoy eating. My kids are all on board, and I think we’re all doing pretty great. We’re not eating plant-based 100% of the time since we still have lots of meats and foods in our freezer and pantry that are not whole food plant-based, but we are eating that way much of the time.
We’re seeing results, too. π
I’m finally losing weight and we’re getting healthier as a family. I’m thinking about blogging more about weight loss. Maybe I could do an update once a month…we’ll see.
Here are my goals for this week:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Make healthy “ice cream” with the kids
2. Work on Spanish with the kids — We use the Whistlefritz Spanish program loosely. It’s a fantastic program that you can adapt to your family’s needs. You can go fast-paced with the program or slow. We’re taking things slow with lots of repetition and that’s helped make it easier for the kids to retain what they’ve learned.
Personal Goals:
3. Start wearing my new Zenni Optical prescription glasses so that my eyes get used to them — This is my second pair of Zenni Optical glasses, and I love the color and style of them. I bought my first pair online many years ago and was impressed with the quality. Those glasses lasted me a LONG time. I think the new pair Zenni sent me is going to be even better.
4. Walk at least 200 minutes on the treadmill
5. Bible: Finish reading through Mark
6. Journal 2x
Home Management Goals:
7. Wipe down the baseboards going up the stairway
8. Fill a bag with items to donate
Business Goals:
9. Film a new video for YouTube
10. Upload a new “What I bought in a week” video to my YouTube channel
What are your goals for this week?

Congrats on the weight loss! I am working on better food choices as well. But sometimes, those (fill in blank) call me….
I had sorted my pantry items and whatever I thought that I couldn’t use in reasonable time, got donated to the local food bank. I did stockpile food back in October in case of power outages but have started using up the stockpile due to expiration dates. This has helped me obtain my goal of only spending $250 (or close to it) per month on grocery items.
Here are my goals:
1) Get labwork done
2) Try making a one pan Spanish Chicken & Rice dish for dinner.
3) Buy more fruits/veg canned or frozen to help with better food choices
4) Sweep & vacuum the garage
5) Be more forgiving to myself so that I can move forward and not carry so much baggage.
6) Think of my words before saying them. And remember that the Lord said that a fool that keeps quiet looks like a wise man. Being a good listener is key.
7) Read scripture daily.
8) Watch a movie with a family member ( I do not watch much tv at all)
9) Hold a plank position 5 minutes everyday and see if it helps my posture/back pain.
10) Keep using food from the pantry/freezer and only buy necessary items (milk, eggs, etc.) to attain my food budget of $250/mth.

Hi Lisa! Your goals are fantastic! I love reading through them. They’re encouraging to me. π
I’m glad to know that we are not the only people that vacuum our garage. LOL – Our neighbors probably think we’re weird.
We’re using up the foods in our pantry and freezer, too. We also stocked up and I’d like to use things before they expire or get freezer burn. I hope you and your family have a fantastic week as we get ready to celebrate Resurrection Day! π

Sandra,
We get glasses from Zenni too. They have such great prices and the glasses are really quite nice. This week has been a hard week with my Dad suddenly being in the hospital. So all of my goals were set aside for the week. But he is doing better now.

Hi Shelly! I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. π Is he out of the hospital?
I’m glad we were able to catch up recently and I’ll be praying for your family. I hope this week is better for you.
