I just wanted to update with a quick post that the giveaway and new website will be announced in a few hours. I’m putting some finishing touches on the website and going over the content again. Stay tuned! π

I’m so excited to share my very first Blogger blog redesign with you guys. I did it for my friend, Elisabeth, of Trusting His Perfect Plan. Elisabeth blogs about her family life and raising her two precious boys, one of which has special needs. It was a pleasure working with Elisabeth, and I’m forever thankful to her for allowing me to redesign her blog. In doing so, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge when it comes to designing in Blogger, and I now feel more confident than ever about opening up shop and taking on clients who’d like their Blogger blogs redesigned. Please head on over to Elisabeth’s blog to take a peek for yourself!
I also wanted to mention again that I’ll be hosting another blog design giveaway on March 14th when I officially start taking design orders.
I’m finally just about ready to open up shop and start taking blog design orders. Β I just wanted to give you guys a head ups in case you are interested in a new design for your blog or any a la carte items like a header or a blog button, etc…
I’m looking to start around March 14, 2011, and to begin I will only be taking Blogger (blogspot) design orders and orders for any a la carte items. I’ll probably start taking orders for WordPress designs somewhere around the end of April (possibly sooner).
I have learned so much both inside and outside of school and with this web design program that I’ve been taking. Β I can’t wait to share all that I’ve learned with you! I’m going to unveil our business’ URL with another blog design giveaway that I’ll be hosting on March 14th. Β Stay tuned!
I’ve very excited! Β I recently found out that I was approved to receive a $6,000 grant for school! Β How is that? Β Well, I explained the process in more detail on my old blog, A Lot of Savings. Β Be sure to read that post for details on how you can apply for this grant as well.
The gist of it is, you find your local training center (mine was our local unemployment office), attend a meeting on the program, fill out paperwork, attend another more detailed session, fill out more paperwork, meet with a caseworker, submit any necessary documents, take tests to make sure you can take college level courses, turn in any still necessary documents, find out whether or not you have been deemed “qualified and suitable” for this grant, meet with caseworker to pick up grant once approved.
That’s basically the process I went through, and from start to finding out I was approved took about four months. Β But $6,000 for school is so worth it! Β I’m currently attending our local community college and that is being funded by a Pell grant that I received after filling out the FAFSA earlier this year. Β I’m going to use the $6,000 grant to attend a specialized training school completely focused on web design. Β It’s a two month program focused solely on web design. Β I’ll revisit things I’ve learned this semester like HTML and CSS and Dreamweaver. Β I need a review for these things anyway. Β The more you write code, the better you’ll be at it. Β Then I’ll learn new things like XML, Flash, and JavaScript.
I’m really looking forward to it!
Unfortunately, I can’t tell exactly how you can qualify for this program as well. Β That information is never divulged. Β I just know that there are different ways to qualify for this grant so it’s worth a shot. Β π
