The Best S’mores Bar, a S’mores Trail Mix Recipe, and Clean Up Made Easy

We decided to do something a little different for our Easter celebration this year.

Instead of buying lots of candy and small toys for our children, we put together an unforgettable, incredible S’mores Bar. It was awesome! And while I’m not sure that I agree, one of my kids even said that it was better than Disney World. 😉

I don’t know about that.

But we did have a fun and messy time with it all.

Tip: Clean sticky hands and faces easily by setting Wet-Nap cleansing wipes out on the table.

How to Create a Great S’mores Bar

I knew that I wanted our s’mores bar to be really special, so I planned out what to make and shop for ahead of time. I’m sharing all the ingredients we used in ours below to give you some ideas of how to put together a truly unforgettable s’mores bar of your own.

Here’s a list of the foods I included in our S’mores Bar:

Fudge Stripes Cookies
Chocolate Chip Cookies, thin and crispy
Snickerdoodle Cookies, thin and crispy
Honey Teddy Grahams
Graham Crackers
Mini Pretzels
Mini Pancakes
Mini Marshmallows
Stacker Marshmallows
Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars
Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme Chocolate Bars
Mini Chocolate Chips
Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Drops
Fresh Strawberries, sliced (Try not to skip these! They really add a special taste to the s’mores and help to cut some of the sweetness.)

Spread the ingredients out on a table, and then let your family and friends build their s’more creations! Designate one or two people to roast marshmallows over the stove.

S’mores Trail Mix Recipe

In addition to simply laying out ingredients for the kids to build their s’mores, I also put together a fun and easy-to-make S’more Trail Mix. It was a great addition to the table. 🙂

Here’s the recipe:

S’mores Trail Mix

Ingredients

1 cup mini marshmallows
1 cup Teddy Grahams
1 cup mini pretzels
1 bag Hershey's Milk Chocolate drops, 8 oz.

Instructions

Add ingredients to a bowl and mix until incorporated. Enjoy!

Easy S’mores Bar Clean Up with Wet-Nap Wipes

Everyone knows when you eat a s’more, you’re going to be reaching for something to wipe your hands and face in a very short amount of time. 😉

The perfect solution to the messiness was setting out Wet-Nap wipes for the kids and adults to quickly grab. That way no one had to get up and run to the sink in the middle of enjoying their sweet treats.

I think Isaac used the MOST Wet-Nap wipes out of us all. 🙂

Easter is special every single year, but this year, it was definitely more memorable.

Peanut Butter Syrup Recipe

Today, I’m sharing a peanut butter syrup recipe that I shared in a blog post a few years ago. That post is buried on my blog but this recipe is still fabulous so I’m sharing it again in the hopes that new followers can see it and maybe save it for later.

Here’s the recipe:

Peanut Butter Syrup

Ingredients

1/2 cup pancake syrup
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Add ingredients to a saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly.
Once the ingredients have come together in the pan and they resemble a thick syrup, remove the saucepan from the heat.
Serve over ice cream, pancakes, biscuits, etc...

You could enjoy this peanut butter syrup with so many foods! Of course, it’s great drizzled over ice cream, but you could also have it with pancakes, waffles, and even biscuits. You could also drizzle it over the whipped cream that tops your morning or afternoon coffee. Yum! 🙂

How to Make a Delicious 100 Year Old Apple Roll Recipe

Today, I’m going to show you how to make a delicious 100-year-old apple roll recipe from the very old American Cookery Cookbook. I wasn’t sure how the apple roll would turn out but it was fantastic! We didn’t have any leftovers for the next day. 🙂

When it comes to the taste of the apple roll, it’s very similar to apple pie but this recipe is a lot easier and less time consuming than a traditional apple pie recipe.

I also think it’s a great recipe if you want to make a dessert similar to apple pie but not spend all the time and effort it would take to make a pie. I’ll definitely be making this recipe again, and I hope you’ll let me know if you try it, too.

As I mentioned, the original recipe, which I tried to follow as closely as I could, is 100-years-old and comes from the American Cookery Cookbook which is found online and free to use.

Recipe: Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting

a delicious recipe for pumpkin spice cupcakes.

This fall, I’ve been going a little crazy when it comes to pumpkin.

But who isn’t, right? It’s that time of year. Pumpkin EVERYTHING.

I’m all for it.

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting
Since I have a strong love of pumpkin, I’ve naturally tried to get my family to share in this love, so that we can enjoy more pumpkin-laden foods together. Honestly, I’m surprised by how easy it has been this year. 😉

But I shouldn’t be. Because who doesn’t want to eat pumpkin spice cupcakes with homemade buttercream frosting?

That’s right. They most certainly do.

Good Cook Bakeware
This week, I threw caution to the wind and made a huge mess in the kitchen baking with my boys. We made a big batch of pumpkin spice cupcakes using Good Cook bakeware.

And they turned out beautifully.

I actually compared the cupcakes made in the Good Cook pan to cupcakes made in one of my older muffin pans, and the ones baked in the Good Cook pan turned out superior in shape and size compared to the ones baked in my old pan. Those came out wider and flatter, but they still tasted amazing, which is what really counts.

Here’s the recipe:

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

Ingredients

2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
2-1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1-1/4 cups pumpkin puree
1 cup buttermilk (I used 1 cup of almond milk combined with 1 tablespoon of vinegar -- left standing for 5-10 minutes)

Instructions

Adjust an oven rake to the middle position, then preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, and sea salt. Set aside.
In a separate large bowl, whisk together the butter and sugar, then adds eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition. Add the pumpkin puree to the mixture, then slowly whisk in the buttermilk.
Slowly whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until combined.
Line muffin pans with cupcake liners and fill the cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes.
Cool completely, then frost with buttercream frosting (see recipe below).

Buttercream Frosting Recipe
While the cupcakes are scrumptious on their own, the buttercream frosting makes them even better. I think you’ll love this recipe. It’s easy to whip up, and takes just a few ingredients.

Here’s the recipe:

Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

2-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 stick of butter, softened
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2-3 tablespoons almond milk

Instructions

In a medium sized bowl, stir ingredients together until incorporated.
