These days, I could definitely be classified as a homebody.

I like being at home and not leaving the house unless I have to or unless we have some fun family adventure planned, which doesn’t happen too often. I’ve really always been the type of person who enjoys just being at home, but now much more so because of everything that’s happened with David and the desire to protect him as his immune system continues to recover since his transplant.

So, ~~since it takes a crowbar to pry me away from home these days~~ in light of this, I was very excited when the opportunity came up for our family to try a food delivery service called Door to Door Organics.

It’s a service that allows you to have organic fruits and vegetables delivered right to your front door. For us, our “front door” is technically my in-laws’ front door because our house is just out of range of the delivery area.

With our last move, we traded closeness to shopping centers for a backyard and a single-family detached home to accommodate our family of seven. That means we had to move a little “further out” to find a home within our budget.

But anyway, my husband simply stops and picks up the box (or boxes) on his way home from work or while out running errands.

More Than Just Fruits and Vegetables

Not only does Door to Door Organics deliver high-quality, organic fruits and vegetables, but they also offer lots of other grocery options that can be dropped off along with your produce. When I placed my very first order, I took my time and shopped around (online) for other items my family either uses regularly or would enjoy trying.

I was pleasantly surprised at the huge selection of other grocery items that we could choose from. There’s even a sale section!

Ruben and I both added several items to the online shopping cart, and among them were almond milk, which we use all the time, and organic salted caramel coffee syrup, which I thought I’d try. 😉

What My Kids Think

To tell you the truth, my three younger kids don’t understand why daddy brings home a box full of fruits and vegetables every week, but they do know that it’s full of good stuff. And they’re super excited to eat what’s inside! They love the apples, oranges, grapes, and bananas.

My two older kids have enjoyed more of the vegetables, and Breanna, my 12-year-old daughter, liked the pomegranates in our last two boxes.

What I Think

JORD Wood Watch Review and Giveaway!

My husband is a special guy.

He handles so many things for our family — even most of the errands and grocery shopping. So when JORD (pronounced “YORD”) asked if I’d like to review one of their gorgeous wood watches on my blog, I knew I wanted Ruben (my husband) to have it.

Ruben hasn’t owned a watch in a very long time. I believe the last watch he bought for himself was before we were married, and I was probably around 17-years-old.

I’m in my thirties now, so that was ages ago. 😉

So Many Watches, So Hard to Choose

JORD has so many beautiful watches to choose from for men and women that selecting the right one wasn’t easy. After visiting the JORD website and taking a peek at pictures and even videos online, Ruben decided he preferred the Cherry & Maple Sully Series JORD Watch.

I think he made a great choice.

I know it’s hard to tell from the pictures, but this watch is truly lightweight and not clunky at all. I love the colors and the intricate design, but most of all, I’m happy that Ruben finally has a new watch that he enjoys wearing.

Miss Humblebee’s Academy (Online Curriculum) Review and Giveaway! 2 Winners!

I’m a happy affiliate of Miss Humblebee’s and received a free membership to this program in order to
enrich our home schooling experience and facilitate this review and giveaway.

Home schooling my kids is rewarding and incredibly challenging at the same time.

Truthfully, anyone who makes the decision to home school their kids can tell you that it’s hard work. Some days when I’m teaching my younger kids or helping my older kids with a tough assignment, I come dangerously close to losing my mind.

Personally, I think this is true because we’re home schooling four kids right now. If I only had to teach one or two of them, I think I could handle the task much more gracefully. 😉

But working on and off with my four older kids while my precious 2-year-old daughter hangs thisclose to me most of the day, well, it’s difficult. So when it comes to choosing the types of curriculum and programs that we’ll use in our home school, I tend to lean towards choices that encourage learning without a mentally exhausting amount of “momma involvement.”

Miss Humblebee’s Academy

In another post, I’ll share what’s been working as far as math and typing for Nathan, 13-years-old, and Breanna, 11-years-old. But today, my focus will be on the online learning program, Miss Humblebee’s Academy, that’s working for David, my 5-year-old son.

David’s been logging into Miss Humblebee’s Academy for a few months now, and it’s been a great learning experience for him. I think the reason it’s working is that the lessons are not only educational but also fun and engaging!

I love that Miss Humblebee’s is a full online curriculum. Kids learn math, reading, science, social studies, art, and music. Visually, I like that this program isn’t all flashy. I appreciate the toned down colors of the website and that the program doesn’t include a lot of distracting elements like some other programs.
