Goals

10 Goals for the Week

October 23, 2012 by Sandra 4 Comments

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Life has been busy, busy, busy this past week, but I did get almost all of my goals crossed off my list. I’m thankful for that.

Here’s how I did with last week’s goals:

Here are this weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Make a fall treat for our family โ€“ something with pumpkin in it (we made pumpkin donut holes)

2. Read to the kids and return library books

Personal Goals:

3. Wake up by 5:30am every morning — While I didn’t get up by 5:30 every morning, I have consistentlyย been getting up before most of the kids. That has been making a big difference in my day. Big. It allows me time to work in the morning before the kids crowd into the office and the morning craziness starts.

4. Read my bible everyday this week — I did open my Bible almost everyday this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

5. Exercise with the kids — We took a fun trip to the zoo!

Home Management Goals:

6. Tidy up the area around the DVD player and remove unnecessary clutter

7. Go through Elisabethโ€™s clothes and remove the pieces that no longer fit her

Business Goals:

8. Attend a webinar

9. Write 3 blog posts

10. Work on client projects

Here are this weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Make another fall treat for our family โ€“ something with pumpkin in it

2. Buy a few pieces of winter clothes for the kids – We were blessed to live close to family in Illinois and rarely had to buy more than a few pieces of clothes a year for each of the kids. Our family generously provided cute and even trendy clothes for the kids for birthdays and holidays or even ‘just because.’ Now that we live in Georgia, though, we’re pretty much on our own. Lol! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a new thing for me and with five kids that can get pretty expensive. Thankfully, we homeschool, and the kids don’t need a lot of clothes or the coolest, cutest clothes to fit in.

Personal Goals:

3. Wake up by 6:30am every morning

4. Read my bible everyday this week

5. Have a date night with Ruben

Home Management Goals:

6. Unpack one box from the garage – Yes, we still have a lot of boxes to unpack…not of stuff we really need, though. I’m unpacking a box of toys for the kids. I may regret it.

7. Clean and tidy up the school room

Business Goals:

8. Attend 1 webinar and 1 Twitter party

9. Write 3 blog posts

10. Work on client projects

10 Goals for the Week

October 15, 2012 by Sandra 7 Comments

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Even though I didn’t get all of my goals accomplished last week, one thing I did do consistently changed my week.

That one thing?

Waking up before my children – most of them. Our 12 yr. old son, Nathan, wakes up while it’s still dark just about every day. But we have a rule that he has to stay in his bedroom until 7:00am.

Getting up before the kids changed my mornings for the better. I was able to be more productive and get more things done in probably half the time it would have taken me otherwise.

Here’s how I did with the rest of ย weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Take at least 40 pictures of the kids this week

2. Go to the library and spend even more time reading to the kids

Personal Goals:

3. Juice at least 3 days this week – I drank juice only one day last week.

4. Read my bible everyday this week – I didn’t open God’s Word everyday, but almost everyday. Waking up before the kids is also helping me to spend more time in God’s Word and in a devotional that I’m reading.

5. Wake up by 5:00am every morning – While I didn’t get up by 5:00am every morning, I did get up before most of the kids each day. This is something that I’m definitely going to continue.

Elisabeth is 10 months old now, and I’m ready to start getting back to early morning productivity. I used to be able to get up around 5:00am each morning, but after I got pregnant with Elisabeth, I just couldn’t do it. Then after I gave birth to her, I tried to get back into waking up before the kids, but I failed. I decided to accept that I wasn’t going to be able to do it while Elisabeth was so young, but last week’s success gave me hope that I can start trying to make this a habit again.

Home Management Goals:

6. Make more body scrub

7. Make a menu for what weโ€™ll eat this week

Business Goals:

8. Start executing the things I learned at the conference

9. Blog about the conference – I did blog about the Bloggy Conference, but didn’t get to blogging about the Savvy Blogging conference.

10. Continue working on a project in progress

Here are this weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

10 Goals for the Week

October 8, 2012 by Sandra 12 Comments

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Wow. Last week was an amazing week. So amazing and jam-packed because of the Savvy Blogging conference I attended that I was completely wiped-out on Sunday.

I didn’t even open my computer all day. Crazy, I know.

After we said goodbye to my sister at the airport on Sunday :-(, I came home and tried to be ‘normal’ but my body wouldn’t let me. I was so tired after the conference.

I think it was all the walking, standing with a baby, pushing her in the stroller, etc… that pushed my body over the edge. I was seriously exhausted and laying down every chance I could get.

In the afternoon, I was finally able to get in a nice long nap with Elisabeth and woke up feeling so much better. I finished the night out just hanging out with my family, and then got into bed before 9:30pm.

I was so inspired at the conference to start executing the things that I learned when I got home, and I know the only way that is going to happen (and allow me to stay sane) is if I start waking up before the kids.

It’s as simple as that.

I’m going to do it. I have to be in bed between 9:30pm – 10:00pm each night and wake up by 5:00am each morning. This is going to be a new goal for me this week.

Here’s how I did with last weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Create reading goals for the kids. The three oldest will be doing the BookIt! Program.

2. Read to the kids

Personal Goals:

3. Buy a new dress โ€“ I havenโ€™t worn a dress in over 10 years, so this should be an experience. Iโ€™m hoping to find a dress that costs less than $25 and that fits me well. I know that may be asking for a lot.

4. Read my bible everyday this week – Sadly, no, but I am confident that waking up before the kids will allow me to spend ample more time in God’s Word.

5. Exercise with the kids – Oh, yeah! My legs and arms got major workouts at the conference holding Elisabeth. Not that no one wanted to help carry her. So many wonderful ladies spoke to Elisabeth and wanted to hold her, but she wouldn’t have it. She is what is known as ‘attached.’ She won’t even let family members that she doesn’t see day in and day out carry her, which means Sarah couldn’t carry her, either. My husband was able to take her off my hands each day for a few hours, though, which helped SO much. ๐Ÿ™‚

Home Management Goals:

6. Make more body scrub

7. Tidy up the house for my sisterโ€™s visit this week

Business Goals:

8. Go over the upcoming blog conference schedule with Ruben and make a plan for how weโ€™ll work things โ€“ Ruben was able to keep Elisabeth with him in the evenings during the last conference, which freed me up to attend the evening functions, network and chat with my sister.

9. Attend a blog conference and network with other bloggers

10. Continue working on a project in progress

Here are this weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Take at least 40 pictures of the kids this week

2. Go to the library and spend even more time reading to the kids

Personal Goals:

3. Juice at least 3 days this week – The food at the conference was so delicious. Wow. It was seriously good, and all the meals were included (along with all the coffee we could drink), and I ended up 2.5 lbs. heavier. I’m okay with that. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I do want to get back to my normal eating habits and continue working on my weight loss goals.

dessert

But again, the food at the conference, fabulous! The coffee was supplied by International Delight, and we had like 12 choices of which type of cream to add to our coffee! Everyday. I don’t normally add sweet creamers to my coffee anymore, but I was at a blog conference, so I went for it. Mmmm….hazelnut.

International Delight at Savvy Blogging Summit

4. Read my bible everyday this week

5. Wake up by 5:00am every morning

Home Management Goals:

6. Make more body scrub

7. Make a menu for what we’ll eat this week

Business Goals:

8. Start executing the things I learned at the conference

9. Blog about the conference

10 Goals for the Week

October 1, 2012 by Sandra 4 Comments

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Well, last week I didn’t get a whole lot accomplished as far as my goals went. I went to a blog conference, which was a lot of fun, but it didn’t help me to get much crossed off my list. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s how I did with last weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Create reading goals for the kids. The three oldest will be doing the BookIt! Program.

2. Be off the computer from 8-9pm when the kids are getting ready for bed (working on making this a habit)

Personal Goals:

3. Go to bed by 11:30pm

4. Read my bible everyday this week

5. Exercise with the kids – I’m counting this as all the times I walked around carrying Elisabeth at the conference or walking with her in the stroller. I got quite a bit of walking in last week.

Home Management Goals:

6. Make more conditioner and body scrub

7. Clean and wipe down the bathroom and kitchen sinks

Business Goals:

8. Go over the upcoming blog conference schedule with Ruben and make a plan for how weโ€™ll work things

9. Attend a blog conference and network with other bloggers (After almost 4 years as a blogger, Iโ€™m going to my very first conference. So exciting!)

10. Blog at least 5 times this week

So as you can see, I didn’t get a whole lot done, and I’m thankful for fresh a new week! But it does involve another blog conference, so I’m going to try to keep my goals more doable this time.

Here are this weekโ€™s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Create reading goals for the kids. The three oldest will be doing the BookIt! Program.

2. Read to the kids

Personal Goals:

3. Buy a new dress – I haven’t worn a dress in over 10 years, so this should be an experience. I’m hoping to find a dress that costs less than $25 and that fits me well. I know that may be asking for a lot. ๐Ÿ˜‰

4. Read my bible everyday this week

5. Exercise with the kids

Home Management Goals:

6. Make more body scrub

7. Tidy up the house for my sister’s visit this week

Business Goals:

8. Go over the upcoming blog conference schedule with Ruben and make a plan for how weโ€™ll work things – Ruben was able to keep Elisabeth with him in the evenings during the last conference, which freed me up to attend the evening functions, network and chat with my sister.

I’m hoping we can somehow do the same thing this week…although, it’ll be harder because we aren’t staying in a nearby hotel. Our house is about 50 minutes away from the conference hotel, so we obviously don’t want to get a hotel room and would rather save money by sleeping at home. But then there’s no local place for Ruben to hang out with 5 kids while I attend the conference in the evenings. We’ll see how things work out.

9. Attend a blog conference and network with other bloggers

10. Continue working on a project in progress

What goals do you have for this week?ย

P.S. For those interested, I’m going to be posting short posts of the things I gleaned from last week’s Bloggy Conference. I’m hoping to get my first update post up today.
