10 Goals for the week

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Last week was an okay week as far as my goals went. I’ll jump right in and share how I did:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue reading through the Psalms with the kids with a focus on reading a psalm together before lunch. I did a better job of reading Psalms with the kids, but it’s still sporadic. I’d like to get into a habit where we read every morning, before lunch, or in the evening. Still working on this goal.

2. Continue spending time reading one-on-one with David. Done.

Personal Goals:

3. Walk on the treadmill 4 days this week for longer periods of time than I did last week. I made it on the treadmill 3 days last week. Progress!

4. Continue counting my calories. Done. I’ve kept up with counting my calories, but there were a few days last week where I lost count…I’m back at it though.

5. Wake up by 7:00am every morning. I’m going to try to go to bed earlier and start working my way down to getting up before the kids. Someday, I’d like to get back to a routine of waking up by 5:00am every morning. I continued my habit of staying up late after the kids went to bed, so I ended up getting up later than 7:00am most days. I guess this is because, at the end of the day, when the kids finally fall asleep and stop coming out of their room, I get to enjoy  the quietness and the semi-alone time that I get. Life has been so chaotic lately.

Home Management Goals:

6. Clean the refrigerator. Okay, this is getting done today, because we have people walking through with a realtor to see the home we are renting.

7. Pack up as many boxes as possible. Okay, I didn’t pack ANY boxes, but my husband did. Does that count? 🙂

Business Goals:

8. Post one blog post each day. Not quite, but I did post most days.

9. Finish designing a blog for Breanna. Done.

10. Return emails. Done.

And now for this week’s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue reading through the Psalms with the kids.

2. Spend focused time with Nathan.

Personal Goals:

3. Walk on the treadmill 4 days this week for longer periods of time than I did last week.

4. Continue counting my calories.

5. Wake up by 8:00am every morning. Today I got up around 6:15am, wish I could wake up this early every day.

Home Management Goals:

6. Clean and get the house ready to ‘show’ for the realtor and her clients.

7. Pack up as many boxes as possible – must do as we move in less than 3 weeks.

Business Goals:

8. Post one blog post each day.

9. Work on client project.

10. Finish reading Mom Blogging for Dummies.

10 Goals for the Week

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Last week was a pretty stressful week. The original house that we had made an offer on didn’t turn out in our favor, so we moved on to make an offer on our #2 house, which was a bit higher in price. And we found out on Thursday, after more negotiation, that our offer was accepted.

We’re moving to Georgia!

It’s starting to sink in a bit now, but it felt surreal at first. The saddest part of moving is leaving friends and family, so I’m trying to get in as much time with them as possible over the next month before we have to officially drive to Georgia to close on the house and move in.

I didn’t get as much accomplished as I had hoped in terms of my goals. But a tiny bit of progress is still progress, right?

Here’s how I did:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue reading through the Psalms with the kids. I didn’t read nearly as much as I had hoped. I think I only read Psalms once with Breanna, but it did spark a conversation that led her to read a portion of 2 Samuel.

2. Spend time reading one-on-one with David. Done.

Personal Goals:

3. Walk on the treadmill 4 days this week for longer periods of time than I did last week. Done.

4. Continue counting my calories. Done, and I’m definitely keeping this up! It was another eye-opening week to find out how many calories really are in the foods I consume. We went out to lunch after church with Ruben’s parents on Sunday afternoon. We went to Chilis, and I ordered a salad. When I got home, I checked the calorie intake of that particular salad on the Chilis website. It had 1,300 calories! For a salad. Needless to say, I ended up having to be more careful about what I ate for the rest of the day, since I had consumed my calorie allowance for that day before dinner.

5. Wake up by 8:00am every morning. I honestly didn’t try hard enough on this goal. I stayed up way too late most nights, and probably woke up around 8:30am most days.

Home Management Goals:

6. Clean the refrigerator. I *thought* about doing this quite a few times, just never actually did it.

7. Pack up as many boxes as possible. All the packing was put on hold after we found out our offer was not accepted on the first house. Now that our offer has been accepted on the second house, packing is going to continue in high gear.

Business Goals:

8. Post one blog post each day. No….I’m hoping for a better week this week. I’ve decided to try to focus on writing all or the majority of my blog posts in one day and schedule them. We’ll see how that works.

9. Work on client project. Done.

10. Return emails. Done.

And now for this week’s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue reading through the Psalms with the kids with a focus on reading a psalm together before lunch.

2. Continue spending time reading one-on-one with David.

Personal Goals:

3. Walk on the treadmill 4 days this week for longer periods of time than I did last week.

4. Continue counting my calories.

5. Wake up by 7:00am every morning. I’m going to try to go to bed earlier and start working my way down to getting up before the kids. Someday, I’d like to get back to a routine of waking up by 5:00am every morning. Today I got up around 6:45am, which is a start. 🙂

Home Management Goals:

6. Clean the refrigerator.

7. Pack up as many boxes as possible.

Business Goals:

8. Post one blog post each day.

9. Finish designing a blog for Breanna.

10. Return emails.

10 Goals for the week!

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Another week gone by, and a fresh new week ahead.

I did pretty well with my goals last week, even though I didn’t get everything on list accomplished.

Here’s how I did:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Start reading through the Psalms with the kids. Done.

2. Spend more one-on-one time with David. Done. David, our 3yr. old, seems to need a lot of attention these days, so I’m going to keep up making an effort to spend more time with him. So is my husband.

Personal Goals:

3. Walk on the treadmill 4 days this week. Done.

4. Start counting my calories. Done. And this has been SO eye-opening and helpful! I’m definitely going to keep it up. I’m shooting for 1,900 calories per day, because I’m breastfeeding Elisabeth exclusively. I did have one REALLY bad calorie day last week. We decided to eat lunch out, and in an effort to be frugal and not waste so much money, I decided that we should go to the California Pizza Kitchen, because then Isaac and David could use their birthday coupons for free kid’s meals and sundaes. Well, when I went to order the wedge salad, the waitress commented on the fact that the salad was “small” and asked if that was all that I wanted. In a split second decision, I decided not to order the salad at all and just order a calorie-filled pizza. Let’s just say the scale spoke for itself the next day….

I am finally back to my normal weight this morning of 215.5lbs.

5. Wake up by 8:00am every morning. This did not happen. I’m going to make getting up earlier more of a priority this week.

Home Management Goals:

6. Finish de-cluttering the house for when the landlord’s real estate agent comes by to take pictures on Tuesday morning. Done.

7. Pack up as many boxes as possible. Done.

Business Goals:

8. Post one blog post each day. Almost. I only missed posting one day, which is real progress.

9. Work on client project. Done.

10. Go back over the WordPress Web Design for Dummies book to the places I marked to revisit. Done.

And now for this week’s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue reading through the Psalms with the kids.

2. Spend time reading one-on-one with David.

Personal Goals:

3. Walk on the treadmill 4 days this week for longer periods of time than I did last week.

4. Continue counting my calories.

5. Wake up by 8:00am every morning.

Home Management Goals:

6. Clean the refrigerator.

7. Pack up as many boxes as possible.

Business Goals:

8. Post one blog post each day.

9. Work on client project.

10. Return emails.

10 Goals for the week

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

I know I haven’t written out goals or updated my progress for a couple of weeks, so I’m just going to start fresh this week. The last month has been out of the ordinary with so much going on right now in deciding where our family is going to buy a home. After 10 years of marriage and 10 years of renting, the Lord has answered our prayers to be able to purchase a home. And we thought that home would be “home” in Illinois, where Ruben and I and our children have lived all of our lives.

Our whole family was born in the same city.

Well…..it doesn’t look like Illinois is going to be our permanent home after all. At least we don’t think it is.

Because we put an offer on a short sale home back in November, and after months of waiting and dealing with issues, the deal has fallen through.

And even though it’s a ‘buyer’s market,’ the homes in an expensive state like Illinois, in our price range, are ugly. They would be fixer-uppers that we don’t feel we have the skills to take on. Actually, they’d be fixer-uppers with HIGH property taxes.

We were thrilled to find the great short sale house that we put an offer on back in November – the house that fell through for us because the bank wanted $20,00 more than we could give them after the home ended up with a seemingly unfair appraisal.

We’ve looked at MANY other homes in Illinois in our price range and there’s just nothing else, no other home we want to make an offer. And after much prayer and getting over some fear….we feel the Lord may be leading us to move out-of-state.

To Georgia.

Hence the reason for our recent trip to Georgia. We were there looking at houses. Lots of houses. And we found a few that we like.

So we made an offer on one. It’s a great house, in a great location, at a great price.

We are hoping to find out this week whether or not our offer has been accepted. Things certainly move MUCH faster in Georgia than Illinois when it comes to the housing market. Good news for us because we just found out that our landlord is listing the house we are currently renting. So whatever happens, we can’t renew our lease, and we have to move somewhere next month. At this point, we are hoping it’s Georgia! 🙂 I’ll let you know.

Onto my goals for the week!

*one note* I’m anticipating entering “Survival Mode” this week as we pack and get ready to move our entire family and all of our possessions, so my goals will be fairly simple. We are taking a break from Family Day, Day Out with Dad, and Cooking with the Kids until after we move.

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Start reading through the Psalms with the kids.

2. Spend more one-on-one time with David.

Personal Goals:

3. Walk on the treadmill 4 days this week.

4. Start counting my calories.

5. Wake up by 8:00am every morning.

Home Management Goals:

6. Finish de-cluttering the house for when the landlord’s real estate agent comes by to take pictures on Tuesday morning.

7. Pack up as many boxes as possible.

Business Goals:

8. Post one blog post each day.

9. Work on client project.

10. Go back over the WordPress Web Design for Dummies book to the places I marked to revisit.
