Last week didn’t go as well as the week before when it came to my goal list. I don’t have an excuse really other than I gave in to watching Dateline with Ruben a few too many times instead of working on my goals, and we’ve begun the process of looking into buying a home and working with a realtor which has taken hours out of our days doing the things that come along with trying to purchase a home.
Here’s a look at how I did:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Come up with a family activity for us to do for our Family Day on Friday. Done. We’ve switched our family days to Tuesday for awhile because our local Chick-fil-A has started offering FREE breakfast on Tuesdays again! So last week we headed to Chick-fil-A on Tuesday morning and then spent some time at the library.
2. Cook with Breanna and Nathan separately for our “cooking day”. Done. Breanna and I made the best sugar cookies, and Nathan and I made mashed potatoes.
Personal Goals:
3. Walk for 40 minutes each day for exercise. Last week, I only tried for 30 minutes each day, but I’m going to try to push myself a bit more this week and walk for 40 minutes each day. Not even close to getting this done. Last week was a bad week for me as far as exercise went. I think I intentionally walked only 2 days. The good news is that I didn’t gain any extra weight. π
4. Finish reading Using WordPress by Tris Hussey (This is a GREAT book if you are new to WordPress, by the way.) and read 4 Chapters from Illustrator CS4 for Dummies, which I didn’t get to last week. Ugh. No real progress here. I’m hoping to get to this goal this week, though, since I don’t have any assignments to work on for the week and no classes!
5. Wake up by 7:15am every morning. Staying up late and watching Dateline did not help me to accomplish this goal. At all. I think I only got up by 7:15am just one day.
Home Management Goals:
6. Find the receiving blankets for the new baby and pack my hospital bag with everything except for the clothes I’ll wear home because I probably don’t know what that will be until the last minute. Done! I ended up finding 5 baby blankets after going through several boxes in the garage, which is a start. I’m still missing a bunch, though.
7. Clean the bathroom and sew buttons and holes on the clothes that need repairing – I’m so bad at letting items that need sewing just sit and wait forever. Done.
Business Goals:
8. Blog for 15 minutes each day. Didn’t get this done, but, hopefully, I will this week.
9. Cancel a subscription I have for graphics. Done.
10. Spend 15 minutes each day focusing on my blog design business,Β Purely Sensible Design.Β I also didn’t end up making this a daily priority as I have in the past. I’m back to working on it again.
And now for this week’s goals:
Family/Mothering Goals:
1. Read all of the library books that we checked out to the kids.
2. Help Nathan and Breanna think through and write out what they are thankful for so that we can share as a family on Thanksgiving.
Personal Goals:
3. Walk for 10-30 minutes each day for exercise. I’m keeping this goal simple for the week because we’ll be busy. I did manage to get in 10 minutes of walking in today, which is a decent start.
4. Finish reading Using WordPress by Tris Hussey (This is a GREAT book if you are new to WordPress, by the way.) and read 4 Chapters from Illustrator CS4 for Dummies, which I didn’t get to last week.
5. Wake up by 7:15am every morning.
Home Management Goals:
6. Organize my desk and remove items that don’t belong there.
7. Make at least one side dish each day leading up to Thanksgiving, and do a big cooking day on Wednesday to finish preparing the dishes that can be made ahead of time.
Business Goals:
8. Blog for 15 minutes each day.
9. Finish an important project I have waiting.
10. Spend 15 minutes each day focusing on my blog design business,Β Purely Sensible Design.
Β I’m hoping for a very productive week!Β
