Make It Happen Monday

It’s Monday!  I’m still on vacation from the local community college I attend, but I do have two classes this week for a short-term web design program that I just started.  Those classes will be on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, so, there’s nowhere I have to be today and I’m hoping to get some of the things on my to-do list done.  Here’s what I have:

:: get caught up on a couple of emails I need to write

:: grocery shop

:: go to Walgreens

:: declutter the counter

:: register the Starbucks gift card I received for Christmas so that I can get a free birthday drink later this month

That’s it.  There’s not much else I can think of right now because I’ve already been able to get a lot of the stuff I needed to get organized at home done over the last couple of weeks that I’ve been off of school.

Another fun week has gone by, and I’m ready for this upcoming week! Last week was a week I’d rather not repeat because starting last Monday we all got sick one by one. It was with whatever this stomach bug is that’s been going around. Nasty, nasty thing. We had vomit everywhere! So gross. Thankfully, we were able to borrow my mom’s rug cleaner so the carpet is looking clean again and everyone with the exception of David, our youngest, seems to be completely over it.

Ruben and I both missed a few classes last week as a result, but since the semester is winding down and we pretty much know what all of our assignments/projects are that are left to be completed, we’ll be just fine.

This week I’m looking forward to hosting Thanksgiving at our place for the very first time! My list of things to do this week is a reflection of that:

Monday: Go over everything I’m going to make for Thanksgiving (again) and see what ingredients I’m still missing. Go to the grocery store and purchase whatever is still needed. Make pumpkin puree! I’ve seriously been procrastinating in doing this.

Tuesday: Order fresh Turkeys from Meijer. Buy new license plate sticker for the car. Clean home for Thanksgiving.

Wednesday: Ruben takes the boys to Legoland while Breanna and I stay home and cook for Thanksgiving the things that can be made beforehand.

Thursday: Thanksgiving! Give Thanks. Cook. Enjoy time with family.

Friday:Possibly put up Christmas tree…don’t tell the kids!

It’s Monday. Whew! I’ve had quite the weekend. I got exactly zero homework done, but that’s okay. My first class doesn’t start until 11:15 this morning so I can get my project sketch done by then, right? And good enough to be deemed “good” by my photoshop teacher’s expert eyes (he’s got two master’s degrees in Art and even the drawings he quickly throws up on the whiteboard are impressive). I have my first project due for this class next Monday, but first I have to sketch out what I’m going to do and it has to be a good sketch…..by a person who is lucky to draw a good stick figure.

Then there’s the HTML homework that never got done or the final touches to my Dreamweaver web site (at least this one is almost completed). Both of those things are due tomorrow, so, I’ll be pretty busy tonight. But everything was put off for good reason. My sister welcomed my neice into the world, and I spent the hours that I would normally have had for homework up at the hospital. 🙂

Now I need a list to keep me on track. Lists complete me. Enter Make It Happen Monday.

Here’s my list for the week:

Monday: finish homework for Photoshop, HTML, and Dreamweaver

Tuesday: work on hand-coded web site due for HTML class worth a ridiculous amount of points

Wednesday: go over the list I made for what I’d like to prepare for Thanksgiving and make a list of what I need to buy

Thursday: call insurance companies to see if we can get a lower rate on our car insurance which recently increased

Friday: smile because it’s the weekend and I only have one day of school next week

:: Wednesday-Fill out BookIt! Program forms for Nathan and Breanna. They’ve been reading the Bible for 30 minutes each day. I’m so impressed! They’re reading Genesis, and I think they are close to Genesis chapter 30. They have needed help with the hard to pronounce names, and even though they had to read the words “sexual relations” several times, they’ve never once asked me what that means, and they have no idea (they’re 10 & 8 years old). I say, “Sssshhhhhhh.” Let’s keep it that way. 🙂 I want their minds and hearts to be young for some time to come.

:: Thursday-Work on big hand-coded web project.

:: Friday-Get David’s pictures taken….that is if he doesn’t do anything wild and crazy that would result in a visible battle wound to the face and cause us to have to reschedule.
