10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Last week, I spent a good amount of time working on a blog design that I can’t wait to share with you guys. It’s sophisticated and cute. I really love it. I also spent time working on learning how to make The Sensible Mom better. I have so many ideas written down and in my mind, but I think I’m going to start with a new blog design for The Sensible Mom. I still don’t know exactly what I want in terms of design for this blog, but I definitely have ideas swirling.

In terms of my goals, I put more intentional effort into completing them. I didn’t get everything done, but I made progress.

Here’s how I did with last week’s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue working toward making family worship time a habit – Honestly, we didn’t have family worship even once last week, except for spending some time praying together. I’m going to keep this goal on the list.

2. Make banana ice cream with Breanna – We made our ice cream, and we all loved how it turned out. I used what I had on hand. Our ice cream ended up being frozen banans with some vanilla protein drink and almond milk mixed in to smooth it out.

Personal Goals:

3. Juice at least 4 days this week – I drank juice 3 days, so I didn’t quite make this goal. 

4. Finish reading the ebook, Tell Your Time  (affiliate link) by Amy Lynn Andrews – Done! I just finished reading this book last night, and I honestly don’t know why I waited so long. It was an easy read, and I finished the book more motivated and determined to spend my time more intentionally.

5. Walk on the treadmill at least 2 days this week – Done.

Home Management Goals:

6. Unpack 2 boxes from the garage – Done….only 20-30 more boxes to go! I haven’t counted, but it’s more than I thought we still had left in there. I have been throwing more things away as I unpack and wondering why we brought them in the first place.

7. Help the kids organize their room – Done.

Business Goals:

8. Attend 1 webinar – Done. I actually ended up attending 2 webinars.

9. Apply for a blog sponsorship – I started my email for this, but haven’t finished it yet.

10. Create a sponsorship page for The Sensible Mom – I didn’t get to this, either.

And here are my 10 goals for this week:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue working toward making family worship time a habit

2. Make homemade baby wipes with Breanna (We have all the ingredients ready for this, and I can’t wait to share the outcome with you guys!)

Personal Goals:

3. Juice at least 2 days this week – The grocery budget is a bit tight this week, so we won’t be doing a lot of juicing. I have noticed that since we started eating way less meat and dairy, our grocery budget has gone up.

4. Start reading Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas (affiliate link).

5. Walk on the treadmill at least 2 days this week

Home Management Goals:

6. Unpack 3 boxes from the garage

7. Organize my desk area, which has become pretty cluttered.

Business Goals:

8. Start redesigning The Sensible Mom

9. Apply for a blog sponsorship

10. Create a sponsorship page for The Sensible Mom

5 Facebook Tips for Bloggers

Being a part of facebook is pretty much a must, if you’re a blogger. Readers naturally want to connect with bloggers on facebook, and even though facebook is constantly changing and may not be as ‘friendly’ to bloggers as it once was, let’s face it, we still want to connect with readers there….even if it’s just the small fraction of readers that do see our updates in their news feed.

So here are my top five facebook tips for bloggers:

 
1. Post pictures. Facebook is all about images, and an image is way more likely to be clicked on and read than a status update without a picture. Something you might want to try is uploading an image from your blog post to facebook, and then giving it a good caption that includes a link back to your original blog post. This way you’ll actually encourage readers to leave facebook and visit your blog.

2. Post interesting links at night or in the evening. The kids are in bed and readers are jumping back on their computers and getting on facebook. I’ve definitely noticed an increase in my blog readership after about 7:00pm.

3. If you write your blog posts late at night, wait until morning to post the link on facebook. You’ll have a better chance at reaching more people with the link to your blog post in the morning than at midnight.

4. Create milestones on facebook. This way readers can find out when you started your blog and other important events that have happened in the life of your blog.

5. Most importantly, sound like a friend on facebook. Facebook is all about relationships, and you want to sound like a friend to your readers to show your readers that you care about them and value their input. Be sure to ‘like’ their comments, so that they know you’ve read them and comment back.

P.S. I’m still working at being better at all of the above on facebook on a regular basis. It’s a work in progress, but I’m working on it. 🙂

10 Goals to Tackle This Week

Last week was a pretty good week. I accomplished some of my goals, and I feel like I worked toward my goals more than I have in the past.

Here’s how I did:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Start a regular family worship time again (this usually involves singing one song, a brief Bible time, singing another song, and then prayer) – We didn’t do this exactly, but we did have a time of worship followed by watching a Bible message for Ruben and I while the kids watched a Bible DVD.

2. Make banana bread & banana ice cream with Breanna (the ice cream is simply frozen bananas in the food processor with perhaps some rice milk or vanilla protein drink mixed in with a little vanilla extract) – We made 2 loaves of banana bread, but we didn’t get around to making the banana ice cream.

Personal Goals:

3. Juice (as we haven’t been for the past 4 days or so) – We juiced.

4. Finish reading the ebook, Tell Your Time  (affiliate link) by Amy Lynn Andrews – (still not done) – I will finish this book someday. I just haven’t been making the effort I need to.

5. Walk on the treadmill at least 2 days this week – I didn’t do this, BUT I’ve already been on the treadmill today. 🙂

Home Management Goals:

6. Clean the downstairs bathroom – Done

7. Organize the bookshelf in the school room – Done.

Business Goals:

8. Attend at least 2 webinars that I’ve signed up for – Done.

9. Revise some of the content on the pages of our business website – Done. 

10. Create a sponsorship page for The Sensible Mom – Not quite. I created a page for advertising, but not yet for sponsorship. I would LOVE to be sponsored for a blog conference in the future. I’ve been blogging for 3 years and have never been to a blog conference.

And now for this week’s goals:

Family/Mothering Goals:

1. Continue working toward making family worship time a habit

2. Make banana ice cream with Breanna

Personal Goals:

3. Juice at least 4 days this week

4. Finish reading the ebook, Tell Your Time  (affiliate link) by Amy Lynn Andrews

5. Walk on the treadmill at least 2 days this week

Losing the Baby Fat Weight Loss Update

Since I last updated, I’ve lost .5 lbs. Not a lot, I know, but better than nothing. I currently weigh 200 lbs. exactly.

My diet hasn’t been the best in the last 10 days or so. We had Chick-fil-A twice, and we had birthday cake for my husband’s birthday. We also had a big birthday dinner at home. We’ve started a tradition of allowing the birthday boy or girl to pick dinner, and it’s usually something delicious and indulgent. But we’re celebrating a birthday, so I don’t mind. 🙂

And while all the food was delicious, it didn’t help my weight loss efforts.

I’ve also not been getting on the treadmill like I’d hoped, and I’ve been spending a lot of time sitting for work, so I haven’t been exercising much, either.

Again, not good if you are trying to lose weight or be healthy.

But it’s a new week! Progress will be made by God’s grace.

Here’s what my progress looks like so far:

Beginning weight: 220 lbs.

Current Weight: 200 lbs.

Goal Weight: 170 lbs.

# of total pounds I want to lose in 2012: 50lbs.

# of pounds to go until I reach my goal: 30 lbs.

Total # of pounds lost to date: 20 lbs.

Some highlights: I’ve lost 20 lbs. since I started blogging my weight loss journey, and I’ve lost a total of 48.5 lbs. since I gave birth to Elisabeth 7 months ago.

I don't know why none of his other doctors ever thought to check for the most common types of allergies in him especially since he has struggled with eczema and that's a common symptom when you're allergic to dairy products. Spicy bacon-wrapped sausages in the air fryer 😁 Spicy bacon-wrapped sausages in the air fryer 😁 We stocked up on mild and hot Buona Beef sausages at the grocery store and decided to try making the spicy ones wrapped in bacon👍 So good! For the process, hubby cooked the sausages a bit in the air fryer first and then wrapped them in the bacon. These were from over the weekend. I did my taxes this week and I'm so happy to have I did my taxes this week and I'm so happy to have that task done! I was pretty happy to see that we finally didn't owe the State this year and instead we're getting back $1. Lol 😂 I'll take it!
