This week was a little busier than usual, so we only ended up uploading three videos. My goal is to upload at least four to five videos a week to our family YouTube channel, but since we had to head to Chicago on Thursday for an appointment for David, I had less time to film and edit, which was okay by me. 😉

But before I get to the videos, here are a few YouTube-related things I’ve observed:

1. YouTube doesn’t always process your videos right away. This means that you can upload a video, but it won’t be visible on YouTube until it’s been fully processed. This past week, it took YouTube hours to process all of our videos. At first, this stressed me out because I thought something was wrong with the video I was trying to upload. It turns out, the video was fine. I just needed to give YouTube a lot more time.
   

   We literally had a video stuck at “95% processed” for a huge part of the day. Now that I know this situation can happen and actually does happen to people all of the time, I don’t get stressed. I just let it be and wait until YouTube decides to process it.

2. YouTube has a way of scanning videos for music and copyright infringement. Let me tell you, their system doesn’t always work, and we’ve had to file a dispute twice already. Basically, I had to let them know that we had the right or license to use a certain song or songs in our videos.
3. Having a rough schedule for when to film, edit and upload videos is a great idea.

I have five new videos to share with you, including a fun video that incorporates a bunch of different Toads. In the video, they’re showing off their dance moves, and they end up at Disney World. 🙂

But first, here are a few YouTube-related things I’ve observed:

1. YouTube often doesn’t update views, subscriber counts, and even the resolution of your videos right away. It can take days for total view counts to update.
2. My 12-year-old daughter, Breanna, who goes by her middle name of Alyssa on YouTube, is incredibly talented when it comes to creating Play-Doh surprise eggs.
3. In our first month, we posted right around twenty videos to YouTube, and we earned about $1.00.

This past week, we’ve been busy creating a lot of fun videos!

We also experimented with our videos by adding in different types of music. We purchased a couple tracks of happy feeling tunes from Audio Jungle. And we recently found out that YouTube offers a lot of free music that we can use, too, so I’m sure we’ll be using some of their tunes in future videos! 🙂
