I know I said I wanted us to do a study on Proverbs 31 doing one verse a week. We got through one verse a few weeks ago, but none since then. Let’s back to it, shall we?
The first verse we studied was Proverbs 31:10 about being an excellent wife. Today, we’ll take a look at the verse that follows. It’s Proverbs 31:11 and it states, “The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.” (NASB or New American Standard Bible)
Along with Proverbs 31:10 about being an excellent wife, this also is a weighty verse. It means that the husband has complete trust in his wife in everything. He has no need to worry about food, finances, the children, or anything that is under her care. He has confidence in who she is and in her abilities. There is no reason for him not to trust her.
The second half of the verse “and he will have no lack of gain” implies that the husband has everything that he needs. Because of his wife’s godly character, he does not lack. She is a trustworthy and efficient woman, and she takes aptly works and manages her household so that her husband is blessed by her efforts and doesn’t need for anything. He is free to love his wife, and carry out his duties as a husband without lack due to his wife’s productivity. And this woman is VERY productive as we will learn in the verses that follow.
For this week, let’s think about how this verse applies to our lives. Are our husbands able to trust in us? In our abilities to manage a household and use our time wisely? What one area could we focus on improving in order to be more productive in our daily lives to bring gain to our husbands and not lack.
